Providence is calling a Environment of Care Coordinator (Emergency Preparedness Dept, Day Shift, 1.0) to Providence Valdez Medical Center in Valdez, Alaska.

The Environment of Care Coordinator a ssures compliance with Federal (CMS), State, local, and Joint Commission regulations and/or standards as they relate to the Environment of Care Program. This includes, but is not limited to: Safety, Security, Fire & Life Safety, Infection Prevention, Emergency Management, Hazardous Communications, Hazardous Materials and Waste Management, Utilities.

In this position you will:
Develop policies and procedures, and then implement programs that facilitate compliance with all regulatory agencies and local and state codes pertaining to Environment of Care areas.
Establish mechanisms to collect, review, and track data required by local, state, and federal entities which are consistent with PVMC policies and procedures.
Work with PVMC Senior Leadership, managers, and staff on a consultative basis to provide training and guidance in hazardous materials, waste management, and contractor compliance.
Be responsible for ensuring appropriate documentation of programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, TJC, EPA, DOT, and other applicable agenices or organizations.
Have a working knowledge of TJC, NFPA, NEC, OSHA and other codes and standards relating to the Environment of Care and the regulation of hazardous materials and waste.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in safety, security, emergency management, health care, or related field.
Incident Command System (ICS) course completions 100, 200, 700, 800 and HAZWOPER certification required within 12 months of hire
Keep HAZWOPER certification current through annual recertification
1 year of experience in a healthcare or related field, which includes Environment of Care, safety, emergency management (including National Incident Management System (NIMS), Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) and Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA)) and/or regulatory compliance
Familiar and experienced with rules, regulation and laws pertaining to healthcare compliance
Prior experience in program coordination
May be required to travel or have diverse schedule
Must have leadership and organizational skills to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with diverse persons, institutions and services.
Must be customer-service oriented and portray excellent customer service skills.
Competency with general computer programs
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Experience in Occupational Health & Safety
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Internet/Intranet, and Outlook.
