Providence Supervisor Environmental Services in Torrance, California

Description:

Providence is calling a Supervisor Environmental Services (Full time/Evening shift) to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance, CA.

We are seeking a Supervisor Environmental Services who will coordinate and supervise daily activities with regards to all housekeeping responsibilities including scheduling, quality control and employees issues. Works closely with Housekeeping Manager with disciplinary and appraisal matters. Ensure compliance with Department of Health Services and JCAHO standards as well as other regulatory agencies. Employee must be able to relate to and work with all ages between neonates and geriatrics.

In this position you will:

  • AREAS OF EMPHASIS:

  • Ensure that the hospital and responsible areas are maintained at acceptable levels of cleanliness by conducting frequent rounds

  • Oversee that linen orders and supply orders are placed and within acceptable levels

  • Ensure that special assignments are accomplished and completed within acceptable time frames

  • Ensure that safety and infection control procedures are practiced by all EVS employees

  • Oversee employees work performance

  • Ensure the efficient usage of supplies as evidenced by staying within budget parameters

  • Ensure that employees demonstrate a cheerful attitude during daily cleaning of patient rooms and courtesy of cleaning personnel are all above 80% as measured by Press Ganey

  • DOCUMENTATION/INFORMATION MANAGEMENT:

  • Work is done in a timely manner

  • Communicate in a clear, concise, calm and constructive manner

  • Complete assignments on time

  • Able to organize and prioritize job duties and work assignments and appropriately delegate work

  • Recognize needs for additional in-services; plans, organizes and schedules them with appropriate materials and post tests

  • Has an organized work area as shown by having orderly chronological orders, files and record keeping

  • LEADERSHIP/SUPERVISION:

  • Appropriately schedule employees according to approved payroll budget and hospital policies while minimizing the amount of overtime

  • Effectively assign work, monitor and direct activities of work unit as seen by employees performing consistently, proficiently and independently without constant guidance

  • Fairly and objectively evaluate employees work performance

  • Identify and resolve employee relations problems, consults with Human Resources

  • Identify performance and conduct problems and take appropriate disciplinary action in a timely manner

  • Keep morale high even in the face of changes and transition

  • Communicate and enforce department and hospital policies and procedures

  • Screen and interview employee candidates and recommends final candidates that are the best match for the job in a timely manner

  • Promote an environment that expects and demand superior performance optimizing productivity while keeping morale high

  • Provide adequate job orientation for employees

  • Identify and provide training and coaching needed to overcome current deficiencies and provide feedback on work skills and performance for employees on assigned work unit

  • Provide a high quality of services and maintains good productivity and efficiency skills

  • Demonstrate team-building skills by energizing a group and initialing changes in a positive manner

  • Support innovation; empower and involve employees in problem solving within their own scope and within guidelines

  • Recognize employees accomplishments and successes independently

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Requires the ability to establish and maintain a courteous and cooperative (service-oriented) working relationship with patients, families, visitors, hospital staff and co-workers

  • Requires the ability to make basic calculations

  • Requires basic computer skills

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 2 years health care with at least 1 year experience in a supervisory role
