Providence Health & Services Director of Public Affairs in Torrance, California
Providence is calling a Director of Public Affairs to Providence Strategic and Management Services in Torrance, California or Irvine, California.
The Director, Public Affairs, CA is directly responsible for deepening the connection between local ministry leaders and caregivers and advocacy by leading advocacy efforts at the local level. The position oversees local engagement of ministry leaders with local and regional public officials and supports Providence St. Joseph Health’s positioning in the local community. The position is also accountable for ensuring Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH) leadership is aware of local and regional policies and activities that will impact the organization’s operations or strategic direction.
In this position you will:
Lead the coordinated interaction between Providence St. Joseph Health regional leaders and local elected officials.
Monitor the local regulatory and policy landscape, along with a similar focus on the legislative processes, in order to identify issues impacting the strategic and business interests of Providence St. Joseph Health and its partners.
Directly work with the Executive Director, Government and Public Affairs and other department leadership to develop a strategic response.
Develop structures to engage caregivers in state and local advocacy.
Work in coordination with the Executive Director, Government and Public Affairs; develop and execute engagement strategy to deepen connection between government and public affairs, and community ministry and foundation boards.
Ensure that annual advocacy agenda supports local ministry needs and focus.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Law, Political Science, Business, Communications, Government, or Health Administration or an equivalent degree and work experience or equivalent education/experience
7 years of work experience in advocacy and public policy
Strong understanding of the local legislative and regulatory processes, and effective relationships with policy makers at all levels of government
Able to travel frequently within the state of California, including Humboldt, Sonoma, Napa, Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
