Providence is calling an Admission and Rapid Response Nurse (RN) (Part-Time, Variable Shift) at Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center in Tarzana, CA.

This position is eligible for a $12,000 sign-on bonus for external candidates.

We are seeking an Admission and Rapid Response Nurse (RN) who will be responsible for assessing, stabilizing, communicating, assisting and educating the nursing staff and patients who utilize the rapid response team. Receives patient for admission and transfers the patient to assigned unit.

In this position you will:


  • Promote patient, physician and employee satisfaction by personal example, treating all contacts with respect.

  • Support and participate in activities that foster customer service.

  • Communicate and follow the organizational chain of command for notification of patient care/service issues, when appropriate.


  • Maintain required applicable licensure, certification and education.

  • Attend and successfully completes general and department orientation, in-service programs and the annual key competencies and mandatory update requirements.

  • Participate actively in department staff meetings

  • Demonstrate mastery of verbal and written communications.

  • Provide care that considers physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural needs of patients.

  • Complete initial assessment per policy and ongoing re-assessments as warranted by patient's condition.

  • Document care provided in the patient care record in accordance with policies and procedures.

  • Safely and competently administers pharmacotherapeutics, adhering to medication policies, procedures, practices and standards and monitors and documents the resultant outcomes based upon the patient’s response to treatment. Initiates, regulates and otherwise manages Intravenous Therapy.

  • Assess and respond appropriately to ensure patient safety based on the physical environment, equipment and the patient’s behavior.

  • Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to provide care in emergency situations and follows established emergency procedures and practices.

  • Provide individualized teaching to patient/families and documents effectiveness.

  • Demonstrate competence in the clinical knowledge, skills required, and technology utilized in the department.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of age specific care, including but not limited to, identifying the need for additional safety measures, physiological normal values/readings; and assessing skin integrity, behavior, motor skills and/or activities that place patients at risk as well as communicates effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner. Applicable for the populations Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric.

  • Verbalize and demonstrate the ability to obtain and interpret cardiac rhythms and treatment of arrhythmias.

  • Able to synthesize patient data and condition to formulate an assessment and provide immediate intervention as needed.

  • Organize essential information to communicate to physician using SBAR format.

  • Educate and mentor other nurses and professionals in critical thinking skills and interventions.

  • Demonstrate competency in discontinuing femoral arterial sheaths post cath lab procedures.

  • Perform hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, arterial blood gas analysis, and defibrillation/cardioversion as well as other specialty area duties that may require advanced training and/or certification.

  • Follow up on patients after RRT calls and identifies potential areas of patient risk.

  • Evaluate effectiveness of intervention, trends and assists in preparing reports.

  • Complete appropriate patient hand-offs timely and thoroughly.

  • Initiate patient medical orders.

  • Assess appropriateness of bed placement in relation to patient condition.

  • Provide initial introduction to bed placement for patient and family.


Required qualifications:

  • Completion of a critical care course.

  • Completion of a course in EKG recognition and its clinical implications.

  • Current CA RN license.

  • Current BLS-HCP.

  • Current LA City Fire Card within 30 days of hire.

  • ACLS.

  • 2 years Experience in critical care setting.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

  • National Certification (CCRN).
