Providence is calling Food Service Worker II (Full-Time/Day Shift) to Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center in Tarzana, CA.
We are seeking a Food Service Worker II who will perform a variety of routine duties related to preparation and serving of food, cleans kitchen area and cooking utensils. Work in areas of cold food preparation, patient tray service, and cafeteria.
In this position you will:
Promote patient, physician, customer and employee satisfaction by personal example, treating all contacts with respect.
Support and participate in activities that foster customer service.
Communicate and follow the organizational chain of command for notification of patient care/service issues, when appropriate.
Maintain required applicable licensure, certification and education.
Attend and successfully completes general and department orientation, in-service programs and the annual key competencies and mandatory update requirements.
Participate actively in department staff meetings.
Demonstrate effective verbal and written communications.
Demonstrate knowledge of age specific care, including but not limited to, identifying the need for additional safety measures, or activities that place patients at risk during food preparation as well as communicates effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner. Applicable for the populations: Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric.
Assist in miscellaneous food preparation duties as required.
Assess requirements to avoid over/under production of foods, especially short order items.
Ensure that all foods prepared meet existing standards for quality, freshness, taste and appearance.
Ensure that required sanitary levels are maintained throughout the preparation and serving process, including production areas, line area and service area such as cafeteria dining room.
Review menu and assembles food and supplies as needed.
Carry dishes and foods between kitchen and serving lines.
Measure and mix ingredients according to standardized recipes.
Wash and cut vegetables and fruits according to procedures.
Prepare and set up steam table and serving line. Obtain and place dishes, silverware, hot and cold foods, baked goods, beverages, desserts, and condiments. Restock as necessary.
Set up and serves patient/customer service lines in accordance with established schedule and procedures. Receive payment for food and drink within established pricing structure. Participate in post meal clean-up tasks as assigned or directed.
Clean the kitchen area and cooking utensils.
Use a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including grinders, slicers, mixers, blenders, steams, ovens, broiler, etc.
Alert supervisors of problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies. Detect and report defective supplies/equipment or other unusual conditions.
Participate in flexing work schedules to ensure effective and efficient use of staff while maintaining quality of work.
Attempt to understand the needs of others in relation to the Food and Nutrition Services Department. Uses good judgment when responding to others needs and the welfare of the department.
Demonstrate willingness & ability to float to areas within their scope of practice as necessary.
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.
Current LA City Fire Card within 30 days of hire.
Experience in an acute care kitchen.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Experience in an institutional kitchen.
