Providence Health & Services Clinical Dietitian in Tarzana, California
Providence is calling a Clinical Dietitian (Per Diem/Day Shift) to Providence Tarzana Medical Center in Tarzana, CA.
We are seeking a Clinical Dietitian who will be reporting to the Director of Food and Nutrition Services to monitor nutritional care, manage physician ordered therapeutic diets and provide nutritional education to patients. Assist in the direction, supervision and coordination of diet office activities.
In this position you will:
Promote patient, physician, customer and employee satisfaction by personal example, treating all contacts with respect
Support and participate in activities that foster customer service.
Communicate and follow the organizational chain of command for notification of patient care/service issues, when appropriate
Maintain required applicable licensure, certification and education
Attend and successfully complete general and department orientation, in-service programs and the annual key competencies and mandatory update requirements
Participate actively in department staff meetings
Demonstrate effective verbal and written communications
Demonstrate knowledge of age specific care, including but not limited to, identifying the need for additional safety measures, or activities that place patients at risk during diet modification and nutrition assessments, as well as communicate effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner. Applicable for the populations: Infant, Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric
Perform nutritional assessments and reassessments when appropriate and according to departmental standards
Document all relevant aspects of nutritional care for patients in accordance with departmental standards
Perform nutrient analysis of patient’s intake when ordered according to the appropriate guidelines
Instruct patients or responsible party regarding diet therapy and drug/nutrient interaction during and subsequent to hospitalization.
Initiates referrals of specific patients, as indicated, to appropriate health care staff member for follow up care
Evaluate patient meal acceptance and records information. Communicate information to Food Service Director, Assistant Director and/or Chef concerning quality care
Advise employees on methods of preparation for therapeutic diets. Instruct personnel on food preparation and special techniques used
Attend health care team meetings regularly to discuss patient care needs
Serve as an education resource to nursing and medical personnel
Ensure that each patient receives the best nutrition care possible within dietary restrictions for the nature of the disease state
Assist in supervision of supportive personnel, maintain steady productivity, through close observation, provides direction when necessary. Lead by professional example
Maintain department records, report, and file as required
Participate in flexing work schedules to ensure effective and efficient use of staff while maintaining quality of work
Demonstrate willingness & ability to float to areas within their scope of practice as necessary
Required qualifications for this position include:
American Dietetic Association Registration
Current LA City Fire Card within 30 days of hire
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Experience in supervision and clinical office settings
1 year clinical experience in an institutional setting
