The K9 Program
Supervisor is a senior member of the Security Services team responsible for
managing and implementing the K9 Program in the Spokane Service Area. This is a
position for someone who is resourceful, comfortable with ambiguity and change,
has the ability to multitask, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and
a self-starter. If you join the Security Services team, you’ll be part of an
incredibly hard working and fun team responsible for delivering exceptional
security to the hospitals, clinics, and countless number of caregivers,
patients, and visitors across the Spokane Service Area.

In this position you will:
Perform a variety of advanced professional and first-line supervisory duties related to the coordination of security services and the PHC K9 program.
Investigate reports of potential criminal conduct against visitors, staff, and property; respond and assist in restraining patients; detains individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer; and provide protective services to high risk areas.
Manage and implement the PHC K9 program to ensure compliance with PHC, legal, regulatory, infection control and law enforcement policies and procedures. Serves as a K9 handler in addition to supervisory duties.
Serve as a liaison between PHC and local law enforcement agencies as pertains to K9 program.
Be hiring and sourcing handler officers and dogs, developing K9 policies, training self and other handlers on proper K9 procedures, working with local law enforcement community to maintain K9 competency, continuously audit program to ensure risk, quality and safety outcomes are achieved.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Associates Degree plus 3 years of experience in security or law enforcement (or) HS diploma plus 5 years of experience in security or law enforcement field
Currently holds a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification from American Society for Industrial Security or ability to obtain CPP certification
Valid driver’s license
3 years of previous K-9 handler experience
Experience as a Public Information Officer (or must complete training as PIO within first year)
Ability to successfully complete K9 training programs, department Field Training Officer Program including MOAB/Defensive Tactics, OC/Pepper Spray, Baton, CEW/Taser, Handcuffing, CPR/AED and basic healthcare security training
Must be able to care for, transport and house K9 at personal residence
