Providence is calling a Nursery Registered Nurse (RN) II Family Maternity Center (Family Maternity Center, Days, 0.6 FTE, 24 Hours Per Week) to Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
Accept and support the mission and values of Holy Family Hospital
Support the Performance Improvement process
Follow policies related to work attendance and dress code
Maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors
Consider individual needs in communication with and assessment and treatment of patients and staff, including ethical, cultural, psychosocial, religious, and age-specific aspects, to include all newborn, adolescent, adult and elderly
Support patient rights and the organization’s code of ethical behavior
Follow the principles and requirements outlined in the Commitments & Compliance Integrity Program Employee Handbook and any other organizational or departmental materials related to compliance with laws and regulatory requirements
Demonstrate proficiency in the following procedures:
• Induction of labor.
• Preeclampsia/care of, to include assessment of and the use of MgSO4 (magnesium sulfate).
• Performs all aspects of care for mother and baby during labor, delivery and recovery, making appropriate adjustments in interventions for adolescents.
• Admission physical assessment of the intrapartum patient.
• Care of the antepartum patient; recognizes PTL and understands administration and side effects of medications.
• Assists and monitors mother and fetus for desired and undesired effects of epidural anesthesia.
• Reacts efficiently to intrauterine resuscitation steps.
• Sets up a room for vaginal delivery, operation of birthing bed, vacuum extraction and forceps delivery.
• Performs Ballard exam on newborn.
• Cares for baby with hyperbilirubinemia.
• Follows steps of care for a baby with hypoglycemia.
• As a baby nurse, assesses and cares for the sick baby and responds to emergencies efficiently.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Attend six (6) mock code training for neonatal resuscitation a year
training as a LDRP nurse 1 year after hire date
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Washington
NRP required (will provide after hiring if not currently certified or has expired)
STABLE training required (will provide after hiring if course not taken or expired)
IV venipuncture: yearly certification required
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Current Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
Previous L & D, NBN
NICU or Level 2 nursery experience
