Providence is calling a Inpatient Secretary II (Neurology Acute, 0.75 FTE, Day shift, 30 hours per week) to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital in Spokane, WA.

Under the general direction of the Nursing Unit management team, supports the operations of the nursing unit by serving as the receptionist / concierge for patients and visitors, answering incoming phone calls and call lights, monitoring supply inventory and ordering and stocking supplies. He/she will also review and accurately enter data into the electronic timekeeping system to ensure nursing unit employees are paid correctly.

Ownership /Stewardship and Accountability: • Demonstrates good stewardship of resources by treating property of customers, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and co-workers with care and respect.
Teamwork: • Works cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of staff and other disciplines for problem solving without blaming.
Flexibility: Demonstrates flexibility by readily adapting to different situations to complete work.
Greets / welcomes all patients and visitors to the unit.
Performs concierge duties for patients/families, i.e., gives directions, answers questions, etc.
Communicates facility policies to visitors, patients and staff (i.e. smoking, visiting hours, etc.).
Answers incoming phone calls and promptly addresses caller’s needs.
Screens phone calls and visitor requests for patient information to protect patient confidentiality.
Answers call lights. Communicates information to the nurse/other care team member, as appropriate.
Takes accurate telephone messages and repeats key information to verify accuracy.
Tactfully handles difficult situations; all contacts are handled professionally and always with courtesy.
Required qualifications this position include:
- 2 years General office and/or Health Unit Coordinator experience.
