Providence Family Therapist - PCCA in Spokane, Washington
Description:
Providence is calling a Family Therapist - Psychiatric Center for Children and Adolescents (PCCA) ( Psych Administration , Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
Customer Service: Maintain and promote positive, open and honest interpersonal relationships with customers (physicians, employees, visitors, patients, and other PSHMC publics). Provide high quality service to all customers; focuse on understanding customers’ needs and follows through Demonstrate respect for the capabilities, different cultures and or personalities of co-workers and Medical Center publics within the mission/values of PSHMC
Communication: Promote and demonstrate effective, open and honest written and verbal communication skills
Self Management: Demonstrate self-management behaviors, which reflect a positive image of PSHMC, following established policies and procedures and promote an efficient, cost effective work environment
Ownership /Stewardship and Accountability: Demonstrate good stewardship of resources by treating property of customers, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and co-workers with care and respect
Teamwork: Work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of staff and other disciplines for problem solving without blaming
Flexibility: Demonstrate flexibility by readily adapting to different situations to complete work
Program Development:
Develop, implement and update the parent education component of the BEST program so that it supports the goals of providing resources, support and guidance to the families of the BEST patient
Develop and teach classes on self-responsibility and parental discipline and guides patients/families in determining goals in relation to this
Meet regularly with parents as a group and individually to review home progress and assist in problem resolution that reflects the educational curriculum and the family’s specific educational needs
Participate in establishment and maintenance of therapeutic environment, patient relationships, and treatment modalities. Monitor and direct assigned milieu activities (i.e. meals and fitness.)
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team conferences to coordinate the patient’s individual plan of care with community providers, school and the family
Assess potential participants for ability to participate prior to the admission to program
Incorporate knowledge of patient's rights (as defined by WACS/JCAHO/CMS) into all aspects of the treatment plan, therapeutic activities and the documentation of the patient's admission, evaluation and progress
Accurately document patient’s admission intake, progress, participation and other pertinent data on patient record and contributes to the plan of care
Protect patient/parent confidentiality in all communication methods according to WACS/JCAHO/CMS regulations
Actively participate in maintaining a safe environment by utilizing age appropriate MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) techniques for the agitated and behaviorally aggressive young child
Perform timely ongoing observation of participant's condition and reports significant findings or changes to the RN
Work cooperatively with the unit's interdisciplinary team members, physicians, other departments and all program and PSHMC guests
Provide care according to established competencies, policies, procedures and demonstrates working knowledge of equipment used in performing assigned duties
Assist in providing psychosocial, spiritual and cultural support for patients/families
Recognize own limitation and limits of FI role and seeks assistance from the RN/Nurse Manager when needed
Informs the RN when difficult problems, unusual developments or activities occur which may affect the RN's responsibilities
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related Human Services
Valid and unencumbered Washington State License/Registration as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
3 years of relevant marriage or family therapy experience post Master's
Preferred qualifications:
- 2 years of ambulatory clinic or hospital experience.
