Providence Environmental Services Aide - Day Shift - $1000 Sign-on Bonus in Spokane, Washington

Providence is calling an Environmental Services Aide (Environmental Services, Day Shift, 20 hours per week) to Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Accept and support the mission and values of Holy Family Hospital

  • Support the Performance Improvement process

  • Maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors

  • Consider individual needs in communication with patients and staff of all age groups, including ethical, cultural, psychosocial, religious, and age-specific aspects, to include all ages

  • Support patient rights and the organization’s code of ethical behavior

  • Follow the principles and requirements outlined in the Commitments & Compliance Integrity Program Employee Handbook and any other organizational or departmental materials related to compliance with laws and regulatory requirements

  • Clean and service patient and associated building areas

  • Select cleaning materials, supplies, and prepare

  • Request cleaning supplies and equipment as needed

  • Return unused supplies to janitor closet and ensure all items are replaced in orderly manner

  • Clean and remake patient beds

  • Clean assigned areas by washing furniture, tile, texture, walls, doors, door frames, ceiling, vents, television, windows, and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions

  • Maintain hard floors by burnishing, scrubbing, top coating, and stripping floor finish

  • Dust mops and wet mops floor areas; vacuum carpets, spot-clean carpets, shampoo carpets, using appropriate solutions; arrange furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion after cleaning assigned area

  • Operate various mechanical and electrical cleaning equipment, including buffers, wringers, scrubbers, vacuums

  • Clean equipment and notify manager of equipment needing repair

  • Report safety hazards to manager

  • Climb ladder to hang cubicle curtains, window blinds, replace light bulbs, or reach high areas for other cleaning purposes

  • Collect waste from all areas of hospital, sanitizes trash receptacles and carts

  • Collect soiled linen using heavy transport carts

  • Collect infectious waste as established by Infection Control Committee

  • Transport infectious waste in a special closed container to the storage area

  • Clean isolation patient rooms

  • Clean operating suites using proper cleaning solutions

  • Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops, and community affairs

  • Clean and service patient and associated building areas

  • Use appropriate planning and time utilization

  • Other behavioral factors: Maintain good physical health, both as an example of sound health practices and in view of the substantial lifting, walking, bending, and stooping required

  • Demonstrate identified skills required while cleaning the Operating Room Suites:

  • Review Operating Room Policy for Restricted verses Semi-restricted areas

  • Utilization of Aseptic Technique with regards to Sterile Supplies

  • Review safe practices for working around areas with Sterile hazardous sharps located throughout the Operating Room

  • Follow appropriate protocol for Sanitation of the Operating Room


Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Desire a small amount of experience, sufficient to acquire general familiarity with methods and terminology in commonplace work situations of the Environmental Services field; usually interpreted as between six months and one year of experience
