Claims Specialist PSJH

The Claims Specialist position is responsible for working closely with the Claims Managers and other claims team members to provide support in managing claims by participating in investigation, evaluation and management tasks; maintaining accurate electronic claims files; coordinating meetings, interviews, expert reviews; reporting claims to state and federal databases; conducting legal and jury verdict research; managing the financial ledger for each claim; managing service of process issues; and closing files. Claims Specialists also manage straight forward non-HPL claims such as Auto, patient property loss and Data Breach, and as well as non-litigated HPL claims with limited exposure.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or paralegal training, or a related discipline or equivalent education/experience.

  • 3 years Liability claims support or processing, or litigation paralegal experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • RIMS, ASHRM, SCLA (Casualty Claim Law Specialist or Legal Principles Claim Specialist, AIC designation, or equivalent.

  • Experience with STARS claims management software (or similar software).

  • Experience in a health care setting or with health care liability claims.
