Providence Health & Services Medical Laboratory Technician in Spokane Valley, Washington
Providence is calling a Medical Laboratory Technician (Lab Spokane Valley, Days, Full Time) to Providence Medical Group in Spokane Valley, Washington. In this position you will:
Practice and perform clinical laboratory testing. This includes the preanalytic, analytic and postanalytic phases of testing
Ensure that quality control requirements are met to validate tests; run appropriate controls to ascertain that instruments are functioning properly; records data, in accordance with quality assurance policy
After proper instruction, must be able to operate any scientific instrument and perform any required procedure. Must be able to use independent judgment and knowledge to perform related tasks. Must possess technical reading skills in order to be able to read and comprehend technical manuals. Must possess sufficient academic, technical, and clinical skills and knowledge to evaluate, troubleshoot, research and resolve day-to-day problems
Calibrate, operate, clean, maintain, troubleshoot and provide routine and emergency preventative maintenance to imaging equipment. Maintain workload statistics
Perform venipunctures and capillary sticks and assist in specimen processing area
May be required to train and oversee the work of medical laboratory technicians, Lab Assistants, Phlebotomists and students
Review and suggest improvements to existing procedures. May be assigned to develop or assist in developing and testing new methodologies
Adhere to established company compliance, policies, procedures and protocols
Required qualifications for this position include:
Associate's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, one of the specialty areas, or one of the chemical or biological sciences
Board-registered or eligible for registry as a medical laboratory technician (clinical laboratory scientist) or specialist in a specialty field
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Board-registered with one of the national registries associated with laboratory practice (NCA, ASCP, NRCC, AAM, etc)
Previous experience working in a medical laboratory
