Providence Health & Services Clinical Educator Home Health - Home Health Spokane Vna in Spokane Valley, Washington


Providence is calling a Clinical Educator (Home Health Spokane Vna, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to SCS Home Health in Spokane Valley , Washington. Home Health caregivers will tell you there are significant advantages to caring for individuals and families in their own homes.

The Clinical Educator Home Health provides clinical expertise and serves as a role model and consultant to Home Health Caregivers in the area of clinical skills; functions as a collaborative partner to foster the delivery of high quality patient care by promoting staff professional growth, and supporting the development of staff from novice to expert. Provides leadership to enhance clinical practice, and serves as a resource for non-clinical educational opportunities. The role skillfully combines a primary focus on clinical knowledge with an emphasis on performance improvement.

In this position you will:

  • Develops, implements, delivers or coordinates, and evaluates educational programs to ensure caregivers demonstrate excellent clinical performance, professional development, and knowledge about home health care to ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, Providence system and agency-specific requirements.

  • Collaborates with service line managers to coordinate orientation and mentoring of new clinical and non-clinical caregivers.

  • Directs and coordinates mandatory educational activities in collaboration with Risk, Safety and Compliance.

  • Identifies, leads and/or participates in performance improvement projects that can be addressed with educational solutions.

  • Administers the learning management system (Healthstream, Qstream or RISE) as a tool for caregiver education; tracks caregiver completion of assigned training sessions.

  • Serves as Subject Matter Expert in the area of clinical skills required for Home Health clinical caregivers.

  • Convenes an Education Committee, and coordinates development and implementation of an annual Education Plan in collaboration with representatives from all Home Health services; may include participation in Policy and Procedures, and Quality initiative committees and programs.

  • Develops, conducts and monitors clinical review and auditing activity required to support clinical quality.

  • Directs multi-disciplinary workgroups, using proven performance improvement change acceleration and facilitation methodologies to ensure clinical and/or operational effectiveness and excellence, quality outcomes, patient safety, and positively impact patient/family satisfaction.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Required Bachelor's Degree Nursing Or Education sufficient for licensure in a Rehabilitation modality (e.g., PT, OT, SLP)

  • 3 years Inpatient or Medicare Home Health experience required.

  • 2 years Adult education experience

  • 1 year OASIS-C experience

  • 1 year Clinical review and audit activity.

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse or Therapist (e.g., PT, OT, SLP) required in the state of Washington.

  • Current Driver's license required.

  • Automobile insurance required.

  • Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree Nursing

  • 1 year Experience in healthcare education curriculum development with a variety of teaching methods.

  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, experience with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, and willingness to learn new information technology as required.

  • Demonstrated expertise in interdisciplinary home health care for patients of all ages, and in the assessment process (assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation).
