Providence is calling a Certified Nursing Assistant (Full time/Days) to Seward Medical Center in Seward, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
Assist with resident restorative/rehabilitative training under the plan of care outlined by professionals duly licensed or certified in their respective professions. Carry out individual restorative/rehabilitative plans of care as written by the Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and/or Speech-Language Pathologist. Restorative/rehabilitative activities are performed as instructed by therapists to improve or maintain resident self-performance and functional independence.
Assist with complex activities of daily living such as dressing, grooming, ambulation, wheelchair/bed mobility, transfer training, therapeutic feeding, and donning/doffing splints/braces under the direction of the physical therapist, occupational therapist and/or speech-language pathologist. Other duties may include therapeutic exercises and performance of complex range of motion exercises, amputation/prosthesis care or training or communication activities or exercises as directed by the restorative care plan.
Observe and document on an ongoing basis residents’ functional performance status and condition and reports changes to the charge nurse as appropriate.
Document restorative care daily on Restorative Flow Sheets according to department guidelines. Inform Charge nurse of resident’s progression and regression and reports any activities that were not performed. Provide information for the MDS according to facility documentation guidelines.
Participate as a member of specialized teams, such as Wound Care Team or Positioning, as directed.
Offer direction and guidance to Certified Nursing Assistants who are performing routine ADL care such as range of motion, positioning, walking, feeding, splint and brace applications, etc.
Maintain rehab/restorative equipment, which may include adaptive devices and positioning devices as instructed. Will maintain wheel chairs, mobile recliners, walkers and canes quarterly and as needed. Quarterly equipment checks will be required of this position.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school graduate or equivalent
Successful completion of a state-approved CNA program
Must complete twelve (12) hours of in-service training annually to maintain certification
Must hold a current State of Alaska CNA certification - New CNA graduates and candidates that hold a current, unencumbered nurse assistant certification or registration from another U.S. state must obtain the State of Alaska certification within four (4) months of employment
BLS or the ability to attain certification within 90 days of date of hire
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
1 year in a rehabilitation or long-term care setting
2 years prior custodial nursing care
