Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Software Engineer I, Full-Stack to our location in Seattle, WA; Redmond, WA or Renton WA.
The Digital Innovation Group (DIG) at Providence Health & Services is a small but mighty product development and incubation team that is building next-gen tools that give patients convenient and easy access to healthcare virtually anywhere, anytime.
DIG is both a healthcare startup and a technology/product incubator. Our various teams gather market data on effective solutions in the healthcare space and then proceed to build out a product line with the latest and greatest technology available. When market maturity hits, DIG enables the product vertical to spin out into its own company. It is an unique mix of venture capitalists, digital strategists, marketing acumen, product development and engineering all meshed into one group nestled inside a large healthcare company. We are here to set the pace for other healthcare organizations around the country on how to conceive, engineer and launch effective healthcare solutions.
We are seeking a DIG Software Engineer I to have tremendous potential for growth and are expected to realize this potential by steadily increasing your skills. To have the knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures of software engineering involving fullstack development. To meet defined commitments and deadlines. To communicate effectively to your team and manager. To often receive detailed instruction on assignments and your work is usually reviewed by your manager or more senior engineers. To work on features of lower complexity and adhere to established engineering processes. To take ownership and quickly resolve problems, maintaining code quality at all times. To steadily increase your skills, knowledge, and contributions to reach the level of SDE II.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Write end to end software solutions using the latest SPA frameworks and Node.js backend services. Produce bullet-proof code that is robust, efficient, and maintainable.
Work daily in an Agile environment with engineers from other teams, product managers, designers, and user research to recommend solutions, define timelines, and solve customer problems.
Practice test-driven development, ensuring your code is covered by unit and integration tests, and continually improving the testability of our products
Ramp up on new techniques and best practices for fullstack development.
Build software with a proactive operations mindset to simplify alerting and debugging of customer issues with tools, using tools like Firebase for crash reporting and analytics, or Splunk for application logging and alerting. Participate in an on-call support rotation.
Collaborate with team members on delivering valuable features through mobile applications and backend services that move-the-needle toward greater Patient Engagement, easier and more discoverable care, and enhanced brand awareness.
Required qualification for this position include:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent educ/experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
2 years developing software with mobile development languages such as Java, Kotlin, Swift, or Objective-C experience
2 years working with mobile application frameworks such as the Android\iOS SDKs and related architecture components such as Activities and Fragments \ View Controllers experience
1 year working with mobile application state handling such as MVC, MVP, MVVM, and DI frameworks experience
