We are looking for a Senior User Experience (UX) Researcher in Seattle, WA to plan and conduct user research through leadership and management of the system’s online presence, including public websites, the intranet, physician and patient portals, as well as social media platforms, mobile applications and other extensions of the digital experience.

What you’ll work on:

The Digital Innovation Group is searching for a Senior User Experience (UX) Researcher to plan and conduct user research through leadership and management of the system’s online presence, including public websites, the intranet, physician and patient portals, as well as social media platforms, mobile applications and other extensions of the digital experience.

The Senior UX Researcher is responsible for leading and conducting research with users to help inform design decisions to drive improvements for websites and digital products. The successful candidate is driven to improve the usability, usefulness, and desirability of web sites, applications and products in collaboration with interactive designers, product managers, user experience designers, developers and digital content specialists.

How you’ll be doing this:

This position will develop usability test plans and scripts, conduct tests, test analyses, report results and make recommendations for improvements.

  • Identify opportunities for and prepare research proposals

  • Set research goals based on input from Product Management and User-Centered Design teams.

  • Design research protocols and prepare research plans.

  • Plan and execute user research activities such as participant recruiting and scheduling, materials production, lab preparation, and other logistics.

  • Lead rapid iterative usability testing of wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.

  • Translate research findings into design recommendations to quickly improve product designs early in the design cycle.

  • Establish and socialize success criteria for projects, ensuring shared vision of the project’s goals and objectives.

  • Perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses.

  • Prepare initial results and share with key stakeholders.

  • Translate research findings into actionable, prioritized recommendations.

  • Document and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders and technologists.

  • Assist product management and feature teams in defining functional interaction requirements specifications.

  • Rapidly develop wireframe-quality mockups of screens and interaction designs, as well as document process flows.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • 7 years of experience in user research, user interface design, information architecture, usability testing, human factors, and other related disciplines.

  • Bachelors degree in a related area such as psychology, human factors or HCI

  • Extensive experience in methodologies for uncovering user needs and product opportunities

  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle.

  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking. Must possess ability to analyze and present data and research with credibility.

  • Must be comfortable working “virtually” with team members outside the immediate environment.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • A background in ethnography and cognitive science methods.

  • A Masters or PhD in a related area such as psychology, human factors or HCI
