Providence Director of Strategic Business Development in Seattle, Washington

Providence is calling a Director of Strategic Business Development ( Days, 1.0 FTE) to PSCS Divisional Services in Portland, OR, Seattle, WA or Gardena, California. The Director of Strategic Business Development for the Institute for Human Caring (Institute) will build and lead the Institute’s revenue-generating consulting portfolio and initiatives to advance population health across Providence and to external customers. Key qualities of a successful applicant will include: The ability to discern the healthcare and social needs and preferences of populations served and to complement or integrate health service delivery and community-based social services to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities. An understanding that caring for whole persons entails compassionate, goal-aligned services that address physical, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of a person’s experience and includes social determinants of health as it pertains to safety, finances, environment, transportation and nutrition and food availability.Understands and has passion for advancing the value equation in meeting the needs of seriously ill patients and their families with the populations Providence serves. An understanding of health care financial systems including budgeting and value-based contracting as well as key data needs, sources of and methods for collecting this data to fuel continuous improvement in service delivery, quality – and value. Kindness, respect and collegiality that nurtures internal collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurship.A demonstrated ability to develop innovative business models and provide hands-on management of individual initiatives, projects and programs as well as strategic direction to a broader program.

In this position you will:

  • Leads design of innovative business models for potential grants, consulting contracts, collaborative business ventures and partnerships with non-Providence health systems, professional associations and corporations that advance the principles of whole person care and population health.

  • Takes a leading role in negotiating terms of grants, contracts with potential clients and business alliances.

  • Identifies, evaluates and cultivates a pipeline of client/organization potential markets while building trusted relationships with target companies and strategic partners.

  • Leads business development and evaluation of potential targets through securing and negotiating signed contract agreements, ensuring overall project/transaction quality and value.

  • Presents client and organization prospects to executive team including draft business plan.

  • Provides day-to-day oversight of Institute for Human Caring grants, contracts, and related budgetary impacts, as well as strategic alliances with external clients to ensure the partnerships realize collective objectives.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree in Business, Public Health, Health Administration or related field

  • 5 years of experience in senior roles in either a healthcare or consulting company

  • 5 years of demonstrated success in cultivating and delivering on new business and partnerships

OR

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Public Health, Health Administration or related field

  • 10 years of experience in senior roles in either a healthcare or consulting company

  • 10 years of demonstrated success in cultivating and delivering on new business and partnerships

Preferred qualification for the position include:

  • 3 years of demonstrated knowledge and experience in population health, health plans, contracts, and/or value-based healthcare delivery models
