Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Senior Operations Network Engineer PSJH to our location in Santa Rosa, CA.
We are seeking a Senior Operations Network Engineer to be responsible for providing Network engineering and technical expertise in the deployment and operations of transformative network infrastructure across the Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH) enterprise. This role is independent and must be able to operate across a wide geographic area with limited oversight of management. Through a high degree of technical breadth and depth, the incumbent will be empowered to make logical and physical changes to existing network infrastructure which allow all forms of transmitted data to continue to function as new, transformative unified data transmission platforms are connected and put into production. The ability to understand the impact of new components which have not been tested in production environments and then make changes which benefit both the new technology direction and increase functionality and/or performance of existing platforms is critical to the success of this role. The position is also responsible for the analysis, development, creation, distribution and communication of new Operational Requirements for both the transitioning platform (as it changes) and the new transformed data transmission platform.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Responsible for analysis, data flow design, software and hardware platform development, deploying, configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining platforms which are undergoing transformation at an enterprise level and in an environment which supports critical care, clinical systems and business operations. This role will perform the following primary duties at the various levels.
Leads the creation and adoption of new operational workflows which support the new data transmission network platforms and services for PSJH.
Leads efforts to create major Incident resolution practices for Network platforms, systems, applications and services which are in a transformative state and leveraging advanced transport technologies including; IP voice, LAN, WLAN, VLAN, and WAN technologies.
Ensures expected levels of information security through delivery of operational best practices for network security and remediation.
Research and create new knowledge based articles for support teams to leverage when resolving technical issues and lead problem resolution activities for both existing platforms and platforms which have no predefined resolution activities /processes.
Ensures adherence to established Standards, Policies, and Procedures and recommend updates and modifications to network standards, policies and procedures.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or MIS Or equivalent edu/experience may substitute for the degree
5 years IT industry experience supporting production networks in a 24x7 environment
7 years Network IT related experience with a Bachelor’s degree
9 years Network IT related experience without a degree
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Coursework/Training Current Avaya, Cisco, and/or Juniper certification.
Coursework/Training CISSP certification
Coursework/Training ITIL certification desired.
