Providence Manager, Public Affairs in Santa Rosa, California
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Manager, Public Affairs to our location in Santa Rosa, CA.
The Manager, Public Affairs is directly responsible for deepening the connection between ministry leaders and caregivers by coordinating advocacy and engagement efforts at the local level in the Northern California Region on behalf of the department of Government & Public Affairs. The position manages engagement of ministry leaders with local and regional public officials and supports Providence St. Joseph Health’s positioning in the community. The position is also accountable for ensuring Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH) leadership is aware of local and regional policies and activities that will impact the organization’s operations or strategic direction.
In this position you will:
Coordinate engagement between Providence St. Joseph Health ministry leaders, local elected officials, and community stakeholders in the Northern California Region.
Monitor the local policy and regulatory landscape, along with a similar focus on the legislative process, in order to identify issues impacting the strategic and operational interests of Providence St. Joseph Health and its strategic partners.
Work in coordination with the Executive Director, Government and Public Affairs to develop and execute an engagement strategy to position the organization and ministries on our strategic priorities in the Northern California Region.
Ensure that the department’s annual advocacy agenda supports local ministry needs and focus.
Collaborate with the community health investment team to foster relationships with key community partners and support local initiatives.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Business, Communications, Government, or Health Administration or an equivalent degree and work experience or equivalent education/experience.
5 years of work experience in government, advocacy and public policy
Strong understanding of the local legislative and regulatory processes, and effective relationships with policy makers at all levels of government.
Strong personal presence; ability to educate others on broader issues, motivate others to act though strong written and communications skills, and networking skills to influence targeted constituencies.
Must be able to travel frequently within Northern California, including Humboldt, Sonoma, and Napa counties, as well as occasional travel to Southern California.
