We are seeking a Supervisor who will be responsible for the supervision of the on-site Access Services staff. Hospital Access Services departments facilitate patient, visitor and provider interactions within their ministry including access to both information and care. This position is responsible for staff schedules, implementing a standardized approach in line with the vision of ORC and accountable for quality results, staff satisfaction, and patient satisfaction for the ministry. The supervisor will also oversee and supervise all areas of department operations, and ensure adherence to regulations, facilitating appropriate disaster response, as well as coordination with facility clinical and administrative leadership for processes integrated with Access.

In this position you will:
Direct and supervise the daily activities and workflows of designated registration site, optimizing customer service; facilitating patient care; and ensuring accountability in financial performance. Focus efforts of staff on timely and accurate access services to ensure accurate and complete information is obtained and documented to optimize reimbursement and minimize uncompensated care expense (account rework, payment denials and delays). Ensure staff efforts are aligned with the goals of Access Services, in both customer service and financial.
Supervision of Access staff within responsibility area.
Development of staff schedules.
Oversight responsibility of departmental budgets within leadership scope including participation in budget development, approval responsibility and ongoing monitoring for productivity and cost compliance.
Lead or participate in planning of revenue cycle programs, improvements, service and direction as pertinent to area of responsibility.
Implement a standardized approach across facilities in line with the vision of ORC.
Access representative on Service Area wide leadership/steering committees.
Accountable for quality results, staff satisfaction, patient satisfaction for Service area.
Provide a central escalation and resolution point for facility and patient issues/complaints.
Provide vision, direction and expertise in the analysis and development of programs both within service area and across enterprise.
Operational on-site 24/7 support for Onsite Access Manager vacations, sick leaves.
Compliance/Integrity representative for Access ensuring all compliance guidelines/standards are followed including JC, CMS, EMTALA, HIPAA and others.
Promote interdepartmental collaboration including meeting facilitation, process reviews, problem solving.
Maintain strong working relationships with multiple department managers both on-site and regional, i.e. Surgery, Emergency, Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory. Support and assist in development of appropriate solutions to complex problems.
Ensure policies and procedures of Regional Access Services are utilized and adhered to for optimal performance within the site and region.
Required qualifications for this position include:
3 years of Healthcare access experience.
Ability to supervise, coordinate and hold accountable multiple staff at both on-site and off-site locations.
Ability to design, and supervise using productivity and performance tools.
Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, pre-admission, authorization, verification, payor practices, insurance reimbursement contracts, department and system policies and procedures.
Extensive knowledge of the legal aspects of Access Services, including state and federal regulations regarding patient access, advance directives, organ donation, government compliance including but not limited to MSP, HIPAA, ABN.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively, and independently and build relationships with a wide variety of managers, Access Services staff and PSA professional staff.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of hospital admissions flow, quality improvement processes, and human resources processes.
Ability to prioritize and delegate in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Thorough working knowledge of the potential positive or negative impact Access Services can have on the hospital accounts receivable, cash flow, and bad debt processes.
Requires knowledge of on-line computer system and applications.
Must continually demonstrate superior customer service skills.
Operational knowledge of Regional Business Office standards and revenue cycle processes that are impacted by Access Services.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in related healthcare field or equivalent educ/experience
1 year direct supervisory experience for a minimum of ten employees.
3 years of experience with computer software in a complex business environment.
