Providence Health & Services Sr. Translational Research Scientist in Santa Monica, California
Providence is calling a Full Time, Day Shift Sr. Translational Research Scientist to Providence John Wayne Cancer Institute Santa Monica, CA.
In this position you will:
Under the general supervision of Program Manager Dr. Tiffany Juarez, the Senior Translational Research Scientist will monitor and manage projects related to clinical and translational program activities for the Department of Translational Neurosciences and Neurotherapeutics department.
This position will interact with faculty and staff at many levels, coordinate with academic and industrial laboratories, and provide support for programmatic and individual investigator research within the program.
Determine specific needs of projects in the Department of Translational Neurosciences and Neurotherapeutics, conduct evaluations, and implement new projects.
Serve as a resource for support of programmatic goals.
Maintain working knowledge of GCP and ICH guidelines and FDA regulations.
Keep abreast of up-to-date developments in procedures, technology and equipment, as they become available.
Guide the design of translational studies from clinical trials.
Identify and establish agreements with contract research organizations.
Keep records and prepares reports.
Assist with establishing standardized written protocols and procedures for routine use by institutional users
Perform data collation, interpretation and management.
Assist with concept proposals, grant submissions, and annual reports.
Support the preparation of data packages for publications, posters, and verbal presentations by program members and public relations purposes.
Support the completion of clinical trial documents including clinical protocols and IND's
Ensure the accuracy and quality of applicable written deliverables and their compliance with ethical, legal, regulatory, and client standards.
Provide input for the clinical database build, CRFs, monitoring plan, and data management plan.
Perform other duties as needed.
Participate in special projects to improve processes, tools, systems, and/or organization.
Facilitate inspection readiness.
Perform ongoing review of clinical data including review of draft tables/listings/figures to support data cleaning, analysis, and interpretation of study results.
Provide scientific expertise responding to questions or clarifying issues arising during project conduct.
Generate recruitment plans and create recruitment materials.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Ph.D in biological science or related discipline
Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation and project management skills, including the ability to network, strong personal integrity and teamwork abilities are necessary.
Must be experienced in discovery biology, preclinical drug development, experimental design for target ID engagement projects with new chemical entities and repurposing drugs.
Must be able to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing environment.
Must have a thorough understanding of cancer and neuroscience drug development process.
Demonstrated record of scientific/medical publication.
Working knowledge of clinical trials development and conduct and management of regulatory documents.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with electronic data capture systems.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong problem solving, analytical skills, and strategic thinking.
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision to prioritize, organize, and coordinate work.
Ability to work with human/clinical specimens.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet multiple deadlines, and appropriately prioritize.
Ability to work effectively and clearly communicate with internal and external customers, including, but not limited to, patients, co-workers, management, physicians, and visitors.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance to hospital policy.
