Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Research Scientist Sr. to Saint John’s Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, CA.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Research in molecular tumor biology as related to mechanisms of drug resistance, molecular biomarkers, targeted therapy, and/or new approaches to epigenetic mechanisms in tumor progression.
Human cancer studies include melanoma, breast cancer, GU cancer, ovarian cancer, or other.
Projects may include the investigation of the role of mechanistic studies of metastasis and/or biomarker studies on biofluids such as circulating cell free DNA/miRNA.
Research utilizing immunology and molecular biology techniques applied to systems biology approaches, novel approaches in epigenetics as related to chromatin remodeling in regulating therapy, immunotherapy, or metabolics will be encouraged.
Lead studies in translational cancer research utilizing availability of cancer patients’ specimen resources from clinical trials.
Maintain and/or implement scientific plans and protocols to accomplish specific scientific objectives.
Organize and plan experiences to answer specific hypothesis in translation research studies on cancer patients.
Analyze data independently and prepare figures, grants, abstracts, and manuscripts.
Develop new approaches in modern day cancer translational research.
Work with human specimens such as frozen tissues, FFPE, and or blood from cancer patients.
Lead a cutting-edge scientific research team of postdoctoral research fellows and develop milestones with endpoints.
Present research findings to local, national, and international groups as required and writes manuscripts for publication. Develop new production methods, scientific techniques, and assays.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Doctoral degree (PhD) in Biology, Medicine, or related field
3 years of experience as a postdoctoral fellow in molecular biology, with publication record
Must have experience in cancer molecular biomarkers, epigenetics of gene regulation, and cancer drug resistance mechanisms
Past experience must include human translational research pertaining to cancer
