Providence is calling a PBX Operator (On Call) toProvidence Health & Services in Providence Saint Johns Health Center in Santa Monica, CA.

We are seeking a PBX Operator – Per Diem to

be responsible for

handling all in-coming and outgoing calls and utilizing the beeper and paging

system under routine and emergency situations in accordance with hospital rules

and regulations.

In this

position you will:

  • Reportall phone and switchboard problems, activity in emergency controls panel, and elevatorsout of order to appropriate departments as needed.

  • Relaymessages over the radio (walkie-talkie); announce at the end of the day“visiting hours are over”.

  • Keeprecord of outgoing toll calls made by employees and doctors.

  • Knowemergency codes/procedures; makes calls to police, fire department, etc.

  • Knowfeatures of phone system, hospital personnel, and department extensions.

  • Beable to fulfill these various duties without constant direct supervision andmust rely upon his/her own judgment to handle certain situations that mightarise; maintain confidentiality as appropriate.

  • Demonstratewillingness & ability to float to areas within their scope of practice asnecessary; perform tasks for other departments.

Qualifications:

Requiredqualifications for this position include:

  • Abilityto enunciate and speak clearly over the telephone and paging system.

  • Abilityto communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.

  • Verbalability to converse effectively and to understand orders given under emergencyconditions.

  • Clericalability to recognize pertinent details in hospital directory and avoidingerrors in recording and paging.

  • Must be willing to workon call as this is a perdiem position.

Preferredqualifications for this position include:

  • Three(3) months of experience as an operator of a PBX switch-board.
