Providence Dev-Ops Engineer in Salem, Oregon


Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Dev-Ops Engineer to our location in Salem, OR. This is a fully remote positon open to OR residents.

We are seeking a Dev-Ops Engineer who will provide DevOps expertise as a part of an agile software development and delivery team. This position focuses on enabling a holistic end to end approach to delivering highly available solutions to users. This includes continuous delivery of the product and the supporting infrastructure.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Work directly with developers and operations to create product and enterprise infrastructure.

  • Adopt an infrastructure as code mentality.

  • Participate in continual improvement processes as a member of a larger design and development team.

  • Document processes and procedures around infrastructure creation and development pipelines.

  • Participate in peer feedback processes.

  • Passionate about infrastructure security.

  • Eagerness to learn new technologies.

  • Require 24X7 on call availability bi-weekly

  • Extensive experience in at least one modern scripting / programing language such as Python, PowerShell, C#, Node.js

  • Experience with modern CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, TeamCity, or Octopus Deploy

  • Direct experience building infrastructure in AWS using CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, or other similar toolset

  • Understanding of databases such as DynamoDB and SQL Server, Postgres, Redshift, and MySQL.

  • Familiarity with basic DBA tasks like data backups and security.

  • Experience with data aggregation platforms like Splunk, ELK Stack, DataDog

  • Experience with monitoring/alerting tools and methodologies using tools such as Newrelic, CloudWatch, or PagerDuty

  • Comfort in fully automating administration and provisioning of Linux and Windows server environments

  • Understanding of modern source control systems such as GitHub • Experience with containerization and serverless technologies such as Docker, AWS ECS, Kubernetes, and AWS Lambda.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field; plus 2 years of demonstrated experience in a DevOps role or;

  • Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related field; plus 4 years of demonstrated experience in a DevOps role or 6 years of demonstrated experience in a DevOps role.
