Providence Health & Services VP, Service Engineering in Renton, Washington

THE ROLE:

This is the key service engineering leadership role for the Administrative Technologies vertical at PSJH. As such, the Vice President Service Engineering will have scope across all business domains that fall within Administrative Technologies, like: Human Resources, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, and other non-clinical shared services. The scope is both broad, across all the business units and deep, in terms of technical, process and continuous improvement required to run and maintain an enterprise wide IS service. This role is both enterprise in nature and startup in mindset because we are creating and building this IS division from the ground floor. This role will work in a fast past environment, constant demands for better services, and will require strong problem resolution, decision making, communication and partnering skills. This role requires someone to be both a leader and teacher as we bring in cutting edge service management mindset and skill set to the organization. It requires a leader to deal with high degrees of ambiguity and drive clear strategy and implantation plans, while bring the business, fellow IS organizations and the large team of service engineers along the path to success.

Essential Functions:

  • Building a cutting edge service management team and function in both mindset and skillset that differentiates PSJH from the industry. Lead and manage this team in such a way to enable a high performance and high engagement.

  • Build, by partnering with teams across PSJH, the proper services and relationships that enable the business teams to focus on driving their business and IS to run all the IS services.

  • Work as a key member of a tightknit executive leadership team that includes End to End Experience, Information Management, Program Management, Software Engineering and the Group Vice President of Admin Tech, to create a high performing team that will drive necessary a change and leadership, in a consistent way, throughout the organization.

  • Lead by example by leveraging the power of data and metrics to drive behavior, process and priority decisions across the team and IS.

  • Act as a key Service Engineering leader across the entire IS division to drive consistent methods and process across the enterprise that will ensure PSHJ is a leader in the Healthcare technology space.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

Required education and qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 15 years Related experience - production support, service engineering, software engineering, technical program management - all at enterprise scale and complexity.

  • 15 Leadership experience, leading technical teams in a complex and fast past moving environment.

  • Knowledgeable in service management and site reliability, having the ability to work hands on and to teach and grow others in the knowledge and skills.

  • Ability to effectively build relationships with customers, executive management, and other stakeholders through positive interaction and problem identification and resolution.

  • Ability to perform work independently with minimal supervision, to lead and grown a technical team, growing and hiring the next set of leaders, both managerially and technically.

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and to organize workload to ensure that timeframes are met and the work is successfully completely within deadlines.

  • Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations: live, via online or virtual mediums – to be a visible and servant leader within the organization and across IS.

  • Ability to focus on the greater need and mission of the organization, making personal goals and ambitions secondary to the success of the overall division and organization.
