Providence Vice President, Identity and Access Management in Renton, Washington
The Vice President, Identity and Access Management (IAM) is responsible for strategic, technical leadership and oversight of the Identity and Access Management program within Enterprise Information Security (EIS). The IAM leader will drive resources to ensure that solutions are architected, engineered and scalable to provide identity and access solutions to all caregivers (119,000). This position is fully accountable to drive the scalability and resilience of IAM solutions. This position is also responsible for building the strategy for the next generation solutions and improving the caregiver experience. This position is accountable for end-to-end identity solutions directly tied to caregiver experience across the Providence information ecosystem. This is a highly visible position, with interactions with IT, clinical staff and external customers.
In this position, the Vice President will be accountable for:
Providing strategic leadership, oversight and implementation of identity and access management solutions, including infrastructure in support of affiliates and external customers. This includes infrastructure in our core data centers, the cloud, as well as our hospitals and clinics.
Recommending information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating industry trends and best practices; anticipating requirements to meet Providence Saint Joseph needs for resilient, reliable and effective environments.
Establishing and managing annual operating and capital budgets and expenditures. Governing adherence to standards and policies, and that projects do not exceed budget(s). Providing budgeting estimates as required by leadership.
Leading accountable area(s) on multiple large, complex, and often high-risk projects that cross organizational lines. Working alongside other IT vice presidents and executive directors.
Advocating IS goals and commitments. Communicating and driving that vision through all teams in accountable area(s).
Maintain and refresh the roadmap for the accountable area(s) and ensuring that capacity and availability requirements are anticipated and met. Being the catalyst for new technologies and challenging conventional wisdom.
Acting as the PSJH Head IAM liaison to strategic partners and vendors. Set vision and direction for technical requirements. Ensure that teams in accountable area(s) perform necessary testing and certification to maintain and continuously improve the PSJH environment.
Driving IAM to adequately prepare and regularly test disaster recovery methods, and to keep disaster recovery documentation maintained and current.
Directing teams in IAM to engineer production solutions that are highly economical, available, reliable, secure, fully documented, and in accordance with industry best practices.
Empowering and encouraging teams to proactively identify, manage, and communicate issues and risks, diplomatically escalating as appropriate through areas affected.
Responsible for managing team performance, and for ensuring that all team members develop career plans and receive individual performance coaching as required.
Building and supporting a professional, creative, and collaborative teams in each accountable area. Holding regular team meetings. Daily staff interaction.
Attracting and hiring a team of highly capable and driven professionals.
Additional accountabilities include:
Possible required travel up to 10% of work schedule.
Participates as needed in incident response management including during non-working hours.
Partners with the entire IS leadership team for disaster recovery architecture, projects, and policies and participates in disaster drills.
Maintains the strict confidentiality of all information, including financial/operational, employee/human resource, healthcare/patient data and information.

Required qualifications/experience for this position include:
At least ten (10) years of Information Services technical experience in infrastructure services, security, identity and access management, engineering, or architecture teams, including at least ten (10) years of management experience.
Experience in modern engineering practices and services such as Agile, DevOps, Automation (Infrastructure as a code), Cloud services, and data engineering.
Knowledge of information security best practices including NIST 800-53, NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), ISO/IEC 27002 and ISF The Standard of Good Practice for Information Security.
Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
Ability to lead/manage others.
Effective leadership skills.
Ability to influence internal and/or external constituents.
Demonstrates a high commitment to quality.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Information Services, or other studies; or equivalent education/experience.
Preferred qualification/experience for this position include:
Master’s Degree in Information Services (or a related field) or Business Administration.
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
Experience leading IT teams in a regulated industry (e.g. healthcare, financial, defense industrial base); working knowledge of HIPAA, PCI, HITRUST and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
