Providence is calling a Director, Quality Metrics and Improvement, Physician Services to Providence Health & Services in Renton, WA.
We are seeking a Director, Quality Metrics and Improvement to be responsible for providing system-wide leadership and management for the Quality department and services that support Physician Services and all of the medical groups across the system. This position leads the metrics development and improvement work across the PSJH system and collaborates with other population health areas, such as the Accountable Care, Providence Health Plan, and Government Programs departments. This role provides leadership for several system-wide quality committees and serves as a key leader to recommend quality metrics and goals to contracting for risk arrangements. This position works directly with the regional medical group leaders to drive improvement in our outcomes each year to achieve the goals set. This position leads a team of analysts that support system-wide strategic projects for quality and operational improvement. This position leads several strategic projects, provides expert consultation in ambulatory metrics across the system, and prioritizes project requests received from the regional leadership.
Essential Job Functions:
Actively leads the development and implementation planning for the ambulatory metrics across the Providence St Joseph system. This includes clinical and operational metric development in partnership with regional medical group executives and other system stakeholder groups.
Responsible for leading several system-wide ambulatory committees as part of the governance processes that provide an opportunity for all regions to give input to the strategy and program. This includes planning, facilitating, and following up on committee actions and decisions.
Leads the overall department doing analytics and improvement for the medical groups and supporting them in setting and achieving their goals to become high performing medical groups.
This role will lead the development of both performance and learning metrics to be used across the system and the goal setting process each year. This includes metric definition, technical development, and partnering with other parts of the system to implement the metrics developed.
The position will lead efforts to partner with regions to implement action plans designed to achieve their annual goals for the metrics developed. Be a strong team player with the ability to work effectively with leadership at multiple levels of the organization in a credible and professional manner.
Responsible for managing a team of analysts and staff that work with system-level groups and the regions to measure, track, and improve performance on selected metrics. Mentors staff on issues arising from day-to-day operations. Informs staff members of any changes to policies or procedures. Conducts performance appraisals of staff and provide them with positive feedback and critical input as required. Address performance problems in a timely manner.
This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining a core set of quality metrics to be used in contract negotiations in the future. This role will serve as a key contact point for contracting, ACS leadership, and Government programs leadership on clinical quality metrics and goals.
This position will serve as an expert in national metric best practices and benchmarking to provide guidance to the medical groups and contracting on appropriate metrics and goals to set.
Responsible for delivering business value through effective program management of large and/or complex projects as assigned by executive leadership of the Physician Services area in support of the strategy.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or other healthcare related areas.
Experienced health care leader with a minimum of 9 years proven track record in multiple areas of healthcare management, quality, operations and corporate functions.
Experience managing teams with broad accountabilities.
Experience leading and managing complex projects.
Experience with common clinical operational performance metrics and intermediate to advanced analytics.
Experience working with executive leadership, clinic operators and providers.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Specialized training in facilitation of diverse groups.
Project management, LEAN, CAP and other change management skills.
