Providence Health & Services Coding and Compliance Educator in Renton, Washington
Providence is calling a Coding and Compliance Educator to Providence Health & Services in Renton, WA.
We are seeking a Coding and Compliance Educator to perform highly complex and detailed coding education and auditing and will serve as a valued resource to all regions’ leadership, physicians and non-physician providers. This position will travel to assigned regions to meet with leadership and providers to assist each region regarding coding, compliance, documentation quality and to escalate sensitive issues and compliance concerns that may arise. This position will need to work closely with the regional leadership teams, the ORC Physician Billing departments, as well as all physicians, non-physician providers, compliance personnel and coding staff in all regions of Providence Health & Services.
Essential Job Functions:
Independently performs highly complex and detailed coding review and audits to assess and mitigate risk based on payer rules and regulations.
Complete documentation and provide detailed and timely audit reports to providers and leaders.
Provides subject matter expertise, quality review and feedback to staff in ORC Physician Billing department, physicians, non-physician providers and clinic staff.
Develops educational programs for providers based on audit findings, as well as general education on coding, documentation guidelines, reimbursement rules and regulations.
Creates and presents customized coding training and initial audit/review for new physicians/providers and Production Coding Analysts.
Periodic travels to provider locations to maintain relationships with providers and other clinic staff and provide coding education as needed.
Performs routine performance and productivity audits of Production Coding and Charge Review staff.
Advises the ORC Physician Billing office regarding coding denials and recommends appropriate billing corrections and/or insurance follow-up guidance.
Develop written coding tips, training documents and updates for providers, clinic staff and ORC PB department.
Suggests potential areas for improvement in meeting the Coding and Compliance operations.
Assist with annual and on-going fee schedule updates.
Required qualifications for this position include:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
5 years’ experience or a combination of healthcare-related education and experience in coding and auditing.
CRT, ART,CPC, CCS, CCS-P and/or ACS-EM or equivalent.
Experience in statistical analysis and data audits for all necessary projects, to include analyzing data from report to summarize, draw conclusions and trending of data.
Ability to travel to other clinic locations as needed.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
College-level coursework, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is desirable.
Current Coding Auditor credential is preferred, or eligibility to obtain within one year of hire.
