The Providence Cloud Engineering & Operations (CEO) team is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer who will work in partnership with technology peers, application owners, analysts, and managers, to operate, grow, and improve large-scale, cloud-based services offered to IS and non-IS caregivers. This caregiver will be a key member of our Cloud Migration Team responsible for successful migration and modernization efforts across our portfolio of applications and services. The role is critical for Providence’s digital transformation and modernization efforts which will lead the Healthcare industry by providing the optimal patient and caregiver experience through modern technology.
Providence Cloud Engineering & Operations (CEO) supports the provisioning and operations of both On-premise and Azure Cloud infrastructure across the Providence enterprise. We work across the enterprise to encourage Azure Cloud adoption leveraging application migrations, modern cloud services and capabilities, and portfolio transformation as a means to reduce our on-premise technical debt and footprint. This Senior Cloud Engineer role should possess a Cloud First mindset and a deep understanding of cloud technologies. This role is able to perform architecture reviews, successfully execute migration and modernization activities, leverage cloud services and capabilities to deliver solutions, partner with application teams and vendors to implement solutions, and can leverage automation and design patterns to support modernizing the Healthcare IS portfolio. Team members drive solutions, services, and outcomes which support our Caregiver Experience and Cloud First Missions. If you live outside the Puget Sound area, light travel may be required to our corporate offices as the need arises.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Advise on caregiver, business, and technical requirements. Uses expertise to design components of a service architecture, and operability and caregiver scenarios that meet compliance standards and KPIs, such as quality, cost, and caregiver expectation.
Advise on and incorporate the team's standards and best practices into all designs to create high-performance, manageable services.
Contribute to the design of a service delivery system by evaluating and recommending options for tools, hardware, and processes that enable the team to create a complete system that supports service delivery and meets KPIs.
Perform advanced troubleshooting and engineers solutions for complex (for example, unexpected or unanticipated) service issues to restore service with minimal disruption to the caregiver and business. Owns the problem, solving it once and for all. Extrapolates from past experiences and delivers innovations.
Actively take part in disaster recovery drills. Participate as needed in incident response management during non-working hours.
Make recommendations on capacity requirements, based on service KPIs, evolving caregiver usage scenarios, and proposed new feature releases to enable the team to create a viable cost model.
Maximize the effectiveness of financial resources.
Use expertise to contribute to the design of process or technology solutions that identify and resolve platform, system, deployment and environmental issues prior to solution release, and that ensure an on-time release with predictable high quality.
Triage problems and uses problem management tools (such as root cause analysis, trend analysis, and postmortems) to discover and drive solutions across the service team.
Ensure that production solutions are reliable, resilient, secure and effective and continuously monitored.
Define and collect metrics (such as service availability data, performance measures, system health, and long-term trends) to support service intelligence analysis.
Analyze and track operational cost data and reports trends, budget risk, and variance against the projected cost model to the business.
Identifie cost saving opportunities for consideration by the service team.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent education/experience.
5 years related experience. Good experience leveraging data and metrics to drive behavior, process, and priority decisions. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Experience in problem solving using systematic procedures and investigating problems utilizing root cause analysis.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Expert knowledge of cloud services and modern IT / system architectures (Azure preferred)
Translate solution requirements to enterprise standards and patterns
Experience working with healthcare systems in a Cloud First environment
Proficiency with working in an Agile Framework and Engineering environment
Ability to work with outside/3rd Party providers and vendors
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education/experience
Coursework/Training or equivalent education/experience
