Providence Toddler Teacher - Providence Wee Care Child Development Program in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Teacher Toddler - Wee Care Program (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.
This is a full-time Teacher position, working 8 hour days, 5 days/wk (Monday - Friday) from approximately 7:30am to 4:30pm.
We are seeking a Teacher - Toddler - Wee Care Program that will work as a team member to provide a safe and secure environment which provides developmentally appropriate activities for a child's social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth. The person filling this position is directly involved in the physical care of children including feeding and changing of diapers/clothing and the maintenance of a clean, orderly and stimulating environment. The Teacher works with the Lead Teacher to organize and plan a developmentally appropriate environment, activities, schedule and general care of the children.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Be responsible for a group of infants and/or toddlers (6 weeks to 12 months, 12 through 24 months, or 24 through 36 months). Directs and supervises the teacher assistant and volunteers in implementing appropriate learning activities and other duties as required for classroom management in accordance of Developmentally Appropriate standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children
Be involved in the direct physical care of the children including supervision of meals, toileting needs, and maintenance at all times of a clean, orderly, stimulating and developmentally appropriate learning environment
Relate to children in a positive and nurturing manner using appropriate guidance techniques
Display, provide explanation and supervises guidance techniques of assistants and volunteers
Maintain a high quality expertise in early learning through ongoing process of professional development focusing on infants and toddlers; utilize the Core Knowledge Categories of the Oregon Registry as defined by the Oregon Center for Career Development in Childhood Care and Education.
Plan and maintain a developmentally appropriate early learning environment
Submit written plans for developmentally appropriate learning activities in social, emotional, physical and intellectual areas of development
Implement and oversee implementation of plans, including small group and individual planning
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Coursework/Training: "Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect" training
Food Handler's Card
One (1) year Direct child care and teaching experience with groups of children six weeks to 5 years, with experience with children 6 weeks to 12 months (Infants), 12 months to 24 months (Toddlers); and/or 24 through 36 months (Intermediates)
Must have no convictions related to child abuse, offenses against persons, sexual offenses, child neglect, felony offenses involving controlled substances, or any other offenses bearing substantial relation to the qualifications, functions, of duties of an employee of a child care facility
In compliance with the Oregon Office of Child Care, clearance is required for this position with the Oregon Central Background Registry (CBR), based on assigned duties
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or interrelated field
First Aid/CPR or BLS/CPR
Minimum of an Oregon Registry Step 9 or above
Oregon Registry Infant/Toddler Professional Credential
Two (2) years Direct child care and teaching experience with groups of children six weeks to 5 years, with at least 12 months experience with children 6 weeks to 12 months (Infants), 12 months to 24 months (Toddlers); and/or 24 through 36 months (Intermediates)
