Providence Supervisor, Emergency Technicians in Portland, Oregon

Description:

Providence is calling a Supervisor Emergency Technicians - Emergency Services (1.0 FTE, Dayss) to Providence St Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR.

We are seeking a Supervisor Emergency Technicians - Emergency Services that will supervise and coordinate Emergency Services activities. Responsible for staff scheduling, planning and organizing work priorities, and troubleshooting and solving departmental issues. Participates in hiring, and disciplinary processes.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Coordination:

  • Provide leadership on a day-to-day basis.

  • Proactively anticipate staffing and workflow needs and initiate appropriate planning.

  • Troubleshoot potential concerns related to staff scheduling, workloads, and resource limitations.

  • Leadership:

  • Participate in the interview and selection of staff.

  • Make staffing assignments to ensure staff skills and abilities match departmental needs.

  • Ensure consistent standards of practice are followed. Initiate additional training or disciplinary action as appropriate.

  • Actively seek opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.

  • Act as role model, coach, and mentor of staff. Emphasize and capitalize on staff development, team building and morale.

  • Effectively resolve conflict. Utilize problem solving skills to promote a positive work environment and assist staff in effective conflict resolution.

  • Assist staff in prioritizing work.

  • Proactively communicate on an ongoing basis with staff, coordinators, manager, and customers

  • Performance Improvement:

  • Provide input and make recommendations for the development of Emergency Department policies and procedures.

  • Provide leadership and actively participate in departmental quality improvement efforts.

  • Ensure appropriate quality control checks are completed in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Participate and ensure all areas of responsibility are in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Promptly resolve identified quality issues.

  • Complete performance evaluations for all assigned staff.

  • Recommend department procedures and policy additions and changes.

  • Professional Development:

  • Maintain and enhance professional expertise through appropriate continuing education

  • Education:

  • Accountable for ensuring that all staff participate in departmental training.

  • Collaborates in planning for orientation of new staff and ongoing staff development.

  • Able to act as a resource in all assignments.

  • Teamwork:

  • Demonstrate commitment to teamwork by contributing to the team to meet department needs, offering assistance to others, carrying fair share of the workload, and coordinating patient care with other members of the team.

  • Conflict Resolution:

  • Contribute to resolving conflict. Utilize problem-solving skills to promote a positive work environment and seek assistance in resolving conflict when needed. Counsel employees and initiate disciplinary actions as appropriate.

  • Department Accountability:

  • Demonstrate department accountability; contribute to and attend department staff and/or educational meetings; participate in department projects or committees; use downtime productively.

  • Professional Development:

  • Maintain and enhance professional expertise through appropriate continuing education, identifies training needs of staff and initiates, participate in training of new technicians and staff, balance assignments of staff to maintain proficiency in all areas. Maintain Emergency Tech skills.

  • Stewardship of Resources:

  • Organize and prioritize work assignments of staff to maximize productivity of both staff and the department. Review surgery schedule to anticipate work load and priorities.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate's Degree

  • 3 years emergency tech experience

  • Knowledge of the Emergency Department operations

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Intermediate level Computer Skills

Preferred qualification for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 2 years in leadership experience
