Providence Health & Services Senior Account Manager (ASO) in Portland, Oregon


Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Senior Account Manager (ASO) to our location in Portland, OR.

We are seeking a Senior Account Manager (ASO) who will be responsible for maintaining solid, long-term relationships with Providence Health Plans largest and most complex ASO accounts. The Sr. ASO Account Manager will deliver best-in-class, day-to-day account service to ensure retention objectives are met. This senior-level position will provide strategic account oversight and leadership in all interactions related to the client including annual renewal negotiations and annual contract review processes. They will understand client demands, develop plans to meet these demands, and work with the functional areas within the organization to identify the areas where the Providence Health Plan services intersect with the client demands.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Participate in the administrative fee renewal negotiation process for assigned self insured accounts.

  • Meet contractual obligations for notification of contract changes. This includes advising Underwriting of special circumstances which may affect our rating position, analyzing renewal rates and planning their presentation, and negotiating renewals with brokers, customers and Health Plan management.

  • Identify and meet group needs for reporting, including custom reports. Present and/or coordinate the presentation of reports, provide analysis and make recommendations based on reporting information.

  • Participate in open enrollment meetings for assigned groups based on client requests. This includes both formal presentations and question/answer sessions.

  • Serve as the key resource and liaison between assigned ASO groups, consultants, and Providence Health Plans.

  • Coordinates group and producer requests with other internal departments, including, but not limited to Operations, Underwriting, Health Care Services, Informatics, and Finance.

  • Oversees the production of internal benefit configuration documents and communicating rates and benefits throughout the organization.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience in all aspects of self-insured health plan benefits and service with a proven ability to problem solve.

  • 10 years of experience in self insured health plans.

  • Experience and comfort with public speaking and/or group presentation.

  • Valid Oregon and Washington (when applicable) Health license.

  • Valid Oregon or Washington drivers license.

  • Current auto insurance.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Strong ASO and/or TPA background with a strong understanding of stop loss and the self-insured market needs.

  • Life & Health license.
