RN Surgical First Assistant On Call

The RN Surgical First Assistant assists with the preparation and use of equipment, supplies, instruments and environment needed for surgical intervention. The RN Surgical First Assistant sets up and maintains a sterile field and consistently applies principles of infection control, safety and aseptic technique. Compliance with all hospital and department policies/procedures, standards and mission statements is mandatory.


Required qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Completion of an accredited RN First Assist Program which meets the standards established by AORN

  • Surgical First Assist certification required within 6 months of hire

  • Current RN license in the State of Oregon

  • Certification as a Operating Room RN (CNOR)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Three (3) years of Operating room scrub experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree From an accredited nursing program.

  • 1 year In a Surgical First Assistant role

  • ACLS
