Providence is calling a RN Supervisor to the Transfer Center at Providence Office Park in Portland, OR. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), variable shift position,

We are seeking a RN Supervisor - Transfer Center that will oversee and develop clinical and non-clinical staff: Works in close collaboration with the Transfer Center leadership to ensure development and competency of clinical staff. Mentors and develops all staff members. The Supervisor coordinates the general operation of the Transfer Center. The Supervisor demonstrates a wide range of general nursing knowledge. The Supervisor acts as a mentor and role model for caregivers in development of problem solving assertiveness and leadership skills. The Supervisor also works in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, and other departments across Providence ministries in Oregon. Ability to communicate effectively, function in the crisis/urgent situations and to follow-up (in real time) with department managers and/or Directors and staff, are key skills required for this position.

This Supervisor is accountable for patient flow, capacity, quality and experience of nursing services at the facility level in support of the Providence Health & Services system and regional goals. This includes, but not limited to, assuring safe, efficient and effective patient placement balanced with optimal patient care and services. The Supervisor constructively manages change and promotes a team-based approach exemplifying the standards of behaviors.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

LEADERSHIP:

  • Mentor staff and promotes the professional practice of staff

  • Monitor staff compliance with standard of care, hospital and nursing polices and procedures to ensure safe scope of care

  • Handle conflict resolution with positive outcomes and coaches/supports staff likewise

  • Involve staff in decision-making processes

  • Identify own professional growth and development needs and acts appropriately

  • Complete assignments /projects in a timely manner and requests assistance as necessary

  • Ensure that all services within the clinic are provided in a timely and accurate manner

  • Assign duties to clinical and non-clinical staff

HUMAN RESOURCES:

  • Participate in all components of staff hiring, staff development and motivation, and promoting employee recognition

  • Coach employees on performance. Initiates disciplinary process as required by policy, documenting and delivering corrective action when necessary, Final corrective action and disciplinary process could include termination, All disciplinary process must be conducted along with Clinic Manager involvement

  • Assist with coordinating staffing and scheduling

COMMUNICATION:

  • Serve as a communication liaison between nursing staff, providers, hospital leadership, etc.,

  • Use proactive problem solving with health care team members to ensure the delivery of quality care

  • Keep health care team members informed of changes affecting their delivery of care as needed

  • Communicate with patient and families, addressing their concerns/issues in a timely manner

  • Assist in maintaining an environment conducive to attainment of job satisfaction for Staff members

  • Establish and promotes collegial relationships with members of the health care team, services, administration, and ancillary departments

BUDGET AND STANDARDS:

  • Give input and regularly reviews departmental policies, procedures and standards of practice consistent with hospital philosophy/mission as well as licensing and regulatory agencies

  • Interpret policy for staff as needed

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT:

  • Support Quality Improvement Process as a method for evaluating the quality of care

  • Provide feedback to staff on quality improvement issues

  • Support the nurse sensitive quality indicators and patient experience improvements to achieve top decile performance in conjunction with the department of nursing

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing for all external and internal candidates. BSN

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

  • Five (5) years of Staff nurse experience

  • Three (3) years of Leadership experience

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related field

  • National certification
