Providence Health & Services RN - Interventional Cardiovascular Recovery (ICVR) in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Registered Nurse to join its Interventional Cardiovascular Recovery unit at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR. This is a per diem/on-call position to fill shortages within the unit. You will have visibility to all shifts (day-night).
Day, evening, and night shifts are offered. Although, a majority of hours are day shift hours. Shifts are 12 hours in length and begin at 5am, 6am, 7am, 9am, 11am and 7pm.
This is a 25 bed unit with on average approximately 25-35 admits in a day. Patients seen in this unit are typically admitted and discharged in one day; for pre and post operative cardiac interventions (ablations, heart catheterization recovery, port placements, etc). RN to patient ratio is usually 1:3 on days and 1:4 on nights. The unit is open Mon-Fri 24 hours per day, and on Saturday from 7am-11pm. Successful RNs have a cardiac care background or pre and post operative care experience within fast paced, busy units.
To maintain an on-call or per diem status with Providence St. Vincent, hires must work a minimum of 24 hours per month, which will include one weekend shift and 1 summer, and winter holiday shift. Shifts are considered 4 hours or more in length. Per St. Vincent's ONA contract, Resource RNs (per diem/on-call RNs) who work over 800 hours within the calendar year, receive $1.50 p/hr for all hours worked. Pay out occurs January of following year. This is a great incentive to pick up as many hours as possible!
In this position, you will:
Provide professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment.
Be accountable for the delivery of coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based quality care to patients and families, based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and appropriate care strategies throughout the lifespan.
Practice in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire
All Registered Nurses (RNs) without a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing must obtain a bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher within 3 years of hire.
A RN with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a Bachelor's degree in nursing
Unencumbered RN license in Oregon and wherever care is delivered
If RN holds a multistate license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), the RN must adhere to the requirements of licensure in the new state(s) of hire.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) – (Healthcare Provider) upon hire
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from AHA or MTN within 3 months
12 months of acute care experience working with the patient population similar to the Interventional Cardiovascular Recovery -or- completion of the specialty residency located at Providence St.Vincent Medical Center
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's degree in nursing
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from AHA or MTN
