P rovidence is calling a Research Associate to Providence's CORE (Center of Outcomes Research & Education) Department in Portland, OR.

General Summary:

The Research Associate works with the Center for Outcomes Research & Education (CORE) department. CORE is a largely independent, mid-sized health policy research group specializing in health system transformation and social determinants of health. The Research Associate works with CORE’s program management and Data Science & Analytics teams, as well as external clients, to develop, coordinate, and implement strategies to support data, policy, and analytics projects - with a particular focus on health system transformation and community health. The Research Associate collaborates with these cross-functional teams to design, plan, implement, and maintain systems to collect, analyze, and report data to inform decision-making, evaluation, continuous improvement, and shared learning to support policy and program implementation, and provide technical assistance to external clients.

In this position, you will:

  1. In coordination with Development Program Managers, meets with external clients/stakeholders to understand needs and identify potential solutions; may independently attend these meetings and occasionally facilitate conversations.

  2. Acts as a liaison between external clients and the CORE Data Science & Analytics team, particularly focused on client-facing data and policy work related to health system transformation.

  3. Conducts background research, analyzes data / policy information, and prepares reports, communications, briefs, and other written documents and presentations

  4. Coordinates and schedules meetings; develops agendas and materials development; takes meeting minutes.

  5. Develops project work plans; tracks progress toward program milestones and deadlines; reports on project status to team and leadership;

  6. Performs other duties as assigned.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's degree in social sciences, public policy, public health, or related field -or-

  • Bachelor's degree, and 2 years of additional experience accepted in lieu of Master's degree

  • Current valid Driver’s license

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 2 years of experience with program management and/or analysis and interpretation of data and policy
