Providence Receptionist in Portland, Oregon
Description:
Providence is calling a Receptionist to Providence Saint Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. This is an on call, variable shift position.
We are seeking for a Receptionist who will provide assistance, directions and instructions to visitors, patients and the general public regarding hospital/patient information.

In this position, you will:
Greet visitors and patients, answering questions regarding patient room locations, and department locations
Provide general information and assistance as needed to patients and visitors of all ages
Courteously answer department telephone identifies facility and department.
Access Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer (HBOC) computer system or patient information and transfers calls appropriately
Provide superior customer service and obtains assistance for all patients, visitors, physicians and PHS staff needing information, directions and/or transportation to various departments as needed
Receive packages and special deliveries, takes information needed to notify recipient
Notify the recipient to pick package up
Effectively utilize all information tools and resources maintained in the department
Comply with hospital and department policies/procedures
Establish positive working relationship within the hospital and presents a professional and caring image to the public
Demonstrate knowledge of hospital departments and their functions
Work with Housekeeping to keep areas clean/straightened
Respond to changes in the work schedule as necessary by assisting in other Patient Information areas
Maintain satisfactory attendance at department educational and staff meetings, attends all mandatory education (e.g., Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Emergency Operation Center (EOC), and takes in courses in continuing professional education opportunities
Adhere to the department dress code
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
- Highschool Diploma -OR- equivalent
Preferred qualification for this position includes:
Six (6) months experience in hospital, medical office -OR- related situation
Keyboarding skills 40 words per minute
Knowledge of medical terminology
