Post-doctoral Position in Immuno-Oncology and Bioinformatics/Computations Biology

The Earle A. Chiles Research Institute at Providence Cancer Institute is looking for an exceptional Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Immune Monitoring and Computational Immuno-oncology labs and advance their analysis capabilities in multiplex immunohistochemistry (mIHC). In this role, you will work alongside experts in basic and clinical immuno-oncology in developing and applying image and signal processing techniques, machine learning, and spatial statistics to more deeply characterize the role of the immune system in cancer. Advances in mIHC analysis will be integrated with large collections of multi-omic and clinical data in support of clinical trials and targeted therapies for one of the largest non-profit healthcare systems in the country. We are looking for exceptional candidates with a PhD at the intersection of cancer, immunology, and/or computational biology, a record of productive peer-reviewed research, and the ability to work independently as well as in collaborative research efforts. Providence is calling a Post Doctorate Fellow (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.

In this position, you will:

  • Participate in a fellowship that lasts for 1 year and may be renewed annually based on demonstrated progress of the Fellows IDP and will not typically extend past 5 years.

  • Be expected to apply for external funding within 2 years of their assignment and be expected to submit at least one 1st author manuscript within the first 3 years of their assignment; then one per year thereafter.

  • Perform complex biomedical experiments in support of a research activity or specialized scientific service laboratory.

  • Be expected to exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for solving problems.

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Doctorate degree in a discipline pertinent to biomedical research

  • Experience in presenting original research in oral and written format is essential, as is proven success in writing and publishing original research

  • Expertise in flow cytometry, primary cell isolation and culture, and molecular biology

  • Advanced training and experience with in vivo procedures, including murine colony management, genotyping, intravenous injections and in vivo infection or tumor models

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in immunology -or- experience in the field of immunology
