We are seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Nuclear Medicine that will perform Nuclear Medicine examinations for diagnostic and therapeutic (site specific) purposes under the direction of a physician. Prepares patient, prepares and administers prescribed dose of radioactive pharmaceuticals and non-radioactive pharmaceuticals, performs calculations and manipulates data according to established parameters. Ensures proper preparation and/or ordering of radioactive material, calibrates equipment, assures appropriate quality control, monitors patients and performs other duties as assigned.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
IMAGING SKILLS: Provide quality images with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of all equipment:
Always provides high quality images after performing Nuclear Medicine procedures, demonstrating technical proficiency in producing diagnostic scans and the ability to recognize anatomical structures that are visualized
Demonstrate competence in all areas of Nuclear Medicine: Positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, technical factors and operation of equipment per designated protocol
Order, receive, administer and disposes of radioactive materials properly and according to State and Federal requirements
Present images and related pertinent patient information to physician for diagnosis
Assist physicians with procedures as required
Troubleshoot equipment and informs lead/manager of need for outside repair
Perform and maintains prescribed quality control testing according to State and Federal requirements and immediately reports any results outside acceptable limits to lead/manager
Function as part of the rotational 'on-call' staff providing timely, high quality Nuclear Medicine services after normal working hours, as required
DOCUMENTATION: Gather complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to all customers:
Routinely prepares examinations for interpretation to include: Correct identification and processing of images, adequate clinical history, proper charging and data entry functions, and appropriate previous images for comparison.
Review patients charts and orders to ensure correct examination
Label images completely with demographic, position and other needed documentation
Complete all pertinent documentation including charge sheets, history forms, worksheets and any other necessary paperwork
PATIENT CARE: Provide for patient care and safety using professional judgment in accordance with policies and procedures:
Identify patient by checking patients full name and medical record number according to department procedure
Thoroughly explains the procedure about to be performed in order to facilitate cooperation and alleviate patient anxiety
Show concern for patient comfort while obtaining the desired images as ordered by a physician
Provide respect for patient modesty by proper transportation of patients on and off imaging tables and sees that patients are properly clothed and covered during the examination
Maintain awareness of patient status and takes appropriate actions to meet their needs
Communicate and uses knowledge of related anatomy and physiology to ensure appropriate and effective care to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients
Always provides for safe operations by adhering to appropriate radiation protection guidelines
Technologist performs point of care testing

Maintain appropriate certification and professional expertise through continuing education
Maintain Professional Portfolio as required by HR Policy
Assume responsibility for mandatory in-service education on an annual basis
Assist in the department orientation program with new hire technologists and regularly assumes responsibility for student clinical education as needed
Demonstrate a willingness and ability to assist others, assists in clerical and transportation duties when necessary
Always use time to the best advantage of the department
Use professional judgment and presents a professional image of competency to patients and staff
Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with written policies and procedures
Stock examination rooms with supplies
Notify appropriate personnel for reordering needs. Hotlab and procedure area is maintained as required by The Joint Commission (TJC) standards
Manage stressful situations in a manner that promotes positive outcomes
Communicate pertinent clinical information to patients and/or family member only with the direct instruction from a physician (e.g. radiologist)
Regularly attends required meetings
Actively participates to accomplish positive goals and objectives of the department
Respond and demonstrates flexibility to changes in the work schedule as determined by the staffing and patient load
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Current American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Nuclear medicine (ARRT)(N) - OR- Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) certification
New graduates must be board eligible and obtain permanent certification within three (3) months of hire
Current OBMI as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
New graduates must have OBMI temporary license upon hire and obtain permanent license within three (3) months
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Computer skills and knowledge of keyboard functionality
Completion of pledge to Image Gently/Image Wisely within one month of hire
Expert knowledge of anatomy and physiology, imaging principles and practices, as well as the ability to obtain high-quality images
Adherence to appropriate professional credentialing practice standards
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Two (2) years of Clinical experience as Nuclear Medicine Technologist
