Providence Health & Services Monitor Technician , EKG Technician in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Monitor Technician at Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR. This is a full-time, night shift position. The schedule offered will be 7pm-7:30am (3, 12 hour shifts per week). You will also be required to participate in the team's weekend rotation.
In this position you will:
Be responsible for cardiac monitor surveillance for the telemetry unit and as assigned.
Be responsible for the reporting of any rhythm changes and potentially lethal rhythms to a Registered Nurse following the Telemetry Rhythm Notification Guidelines.
Interact directly with physicians regarding the interpretation of cardiac rhythm patterns or changes in patterns.
Other duties include but are not limited to:
Provide Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation Report (SBARR) to on-coming shift with visual verification of patient rhythm, accountability for all telemetry units
Assign telemetry pagers to telemetry system accurately
Assign patient data to the monitor system accurately
Run rhythm strips every shift
Maintain telemetry supplies
Assist nursing staff with pattern interpretation
Utilize Vocera technology to contact and communicate with staff members
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Successful completion of Basic Electrocardiogram (ECG) exam
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) – (Healthcare Provider) upon hire.
Basic medical terminology
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Cardiac monitoring, including interpretation of heart rhythms
