Providence Health & Services Lead Research Associate in Portland, Oregon


The Laboratory of Molecular and Tumor Immunology in the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute at Providence Cancer Institute is seeking Research Associate 3 who will be responsible for performing routine histologic processing of formalin-fixed tissues from clinical studies and work on development, optimization and validation of new assays in immunohistochemistry and multiplex immunofluorescence.

  • Perform basic histology procedures (trimming, processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and coverslipping)

  • Perform special immunohistochemical staining.

  • Perform scanning of stained slides with the Vectra and/or Polaris imaging systems, and manage slide database.

  • Development, optimization, and validation of new assays in multiplex immunohistochemistry.

  • Generate tissue microarrays and cell pellets for QA/QC.

  • Maintain proper documentation, archiving and routine quality control on all generated specimens and data.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) with major courses in the field of research

  • 5 year years research lab experience

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in appropriate biomedical field

  • IHC/Fluorescence techniques

  • Tissue microarrays

  • Digital image analysis
