Providence Health & Services Enterostomal Therapist in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling an Enterostomal Therapist to Providence Mall 205 in Portland, OR.
This is a very autonomous role, working with a great team in our Home Health division. The RN in this role will work Monday - Friday during daytime hours. The position will establish a formal written plan of care for referred patients, will document specific nursing orders and will develop goals specifying expected outcomes of intervention. This position assesses health knowledge and learning abilities of patients and their family, assesses the educational needs of the wound care and ostomy patients and families, and develops appropriate plans for teaching.
We're looking for a wound care nurse who has fantastic communication skills, great interpersonal skills, enjoys caring for patients in their homes, doesn't mind windshield time and driving to appointments during the day, and enjoys keeping abreast of the latest literature, methodology, and outcomes through nursing research and disseminating this info to clinical and medical staff.
In this position, you will:
Be accountable for direct and indirect quality care for patients of all ages, according to the individualized needs of the patient, following the nursing process and in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
Accept professional development as an integral part of nursing practice.
Function as an educator and consultant to the Home Care staff, patients, and in the community, as needed.
Coordinate patient care activities with other members of the health care team in a collegial relationship.
Serve as a resource person to clinics, physicians' offices, and businesses in areas of expertise.
Works closely with Home Services Materials Management, Home Services Medical Equipment, and outside vendors as needed to coordinate availability of needed equipment and to improve quality of service to patients.
Participate as a preceptor in the orientation of new staff and/or students as assigned by supervisor.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduation from an accredited Baccalaureate school of nursing
Current and unencumbered registered nurse license in the State of Oregon
Completion of an accredited course in Wound, Ostomy and Continence is required prior to hire
Certification as a Enterostomal Therapist by theWound Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board must be achieved within 3 months of hire
2 years of nursing experience
In compliance with the Providence Health & Services-OR Human Resources policy #302 “Background Checks”, a criminal background check is required for this position, based on assigned duties.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Driving record consistent with GOP Safe Driving Policy 330 Incident Point Matrix at time of hire
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- 1 year of home care experience (either prior to or upon certification as Enterostomal Therapist (ET))
