Providence Health & Services Employee Relations Specialist/HR Generalist in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling an Employee Relations Specialist/HR Generalist to Providence Health & Services in Portland, OR.

We are seeking an Employee Relations Specialist/HR Generalist to perform a wide range of duties as assigned by the HR team. Acts as primary point of contact for employees and managers for HR and employment related matters. Serves as a trusted advisor and advocate for employees and managers. Facilitates resolution for HR related concerns. Supports HR team to provide solutions and outcomes to address employees and managers needs. Supports implementation of HR programs and processes.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Addresses employment relations issues under guidance of HR Business Partner/HR Director

  • Conducts employee investigations regarding performance or behavior challenges and policy or procedure violations

  • Provides support for inquiries of policy and/or contract interpretation

  • Builds complex reports upon request and provides insight on HR analytics and metrics

  • Resolves problems relating to organizational policies and procedures

  • Facilitates and provides training and assistance to caregivers on HR related matters

  • Represents ministry in regulatory audits and surveys


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology or related field

  • 2 years related work experience. Must include employee relations experience

  • Ability to analyze information gathered by investigation, and report findings and recommendations

  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills

  • Demonstrate effective judgement and decision making abilities

  • Effectively identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities; possessing the ability to compare data from different sources to draw conclusions

  • Establish and maintain good working relationships

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and to organize workload to ensure that timeframes are met and the work is successfully completed within deadlines

  • Demonstrable working knowledge of spreadsheet, database, word processing and desktop publishing software

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 1 year Human Resources Global Prof Certification

  • Effective conflict management skills

  • PHR
