Providence Health & Services Credentialing Coordinator in Portland, Oregon

Providence is calling a Credentialing Coordinator (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Groth Building Portland in Portland, OR.

The Credentialing Coordinator role is located in our office in NE Portland. This role is responsible for accurately obtaining and maintaining critical credentials for the Professional Staff within Providence Health & Services Oregon region. Additionally, the Credentialing Coordinator will be responsible for processing applications for time-sensitive initial appointment and biennial re-appointments.

This position works Monday - Friday, 8 hour shifts, generally starting and ending between the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Successful organizational skills, including prioritization and time management.

  • Experience in effective professional business communication, both verbally and in writing, with physicians, nurses, and office staff.

  • Technical knowledge of automated support system and maintenance of same, including database management.

  • Interpersonal skills that convey a positive and supportive attitude with multiple hospital, office and medical staff departments.

  • Performance in word processing procedures and preparation of reports

  • The ability to function in a resourceful and self-directed manner in an autonomous environment.

  • Maintain knowledge and facilitate compliance of Professional Staff Bylaws, Policies and Procedures, Professional Quality Review Policy and Allied Health Policy related to credentialing.

  • Independent judgment and professional integrity when working with highly confidential information.

  • Skills in professional telephone and office reception service.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 2 years of medical staff credentialing/re-credentialing experience in a setting similar to Providence Health and Services -or- an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 2 years of experience in processes with progressive responsible experiences to include computerized functions

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology

  • Demonstrated knowledge of office procedures

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate Degree

  • Certified Medical Staff Coordinator (CMSC) or Certified Provider Credentialing specialist (CPCS)
