Providence is calling a Coder Home Services - Home Services Home Intake (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Home Service Building in Portland, OR.
We are seeking a Coder Home Services - Home Services Home Intake who will be reviewing and coding diagnose the electronic medical record (EMR) using ICD-10 coding principles. Ensure diagnosis codes meet optimum specificity standards and are sequenced in a manner that supports the care provided to the patient and conform to coding standards and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) and other regulatory requirements. Complete this work in a manner that supports Health Information Management data integrity standards.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Review and interpret clinical documentation to identify all diagnoses
Apply ICD10 codes to diagnoses ensuring codes are coded to highest level of specificity and follow national and Providence Homecare coding guidelines
Sequence principle and associated diagnoses in accordance with coding standards including CMS requirements
Consult with clinical staff for clarification when conflicting or ambiguous information is recorded
Perform audits for accuracy of coding and provides feedback and coaching to ensure documentation meets the requirements for codes selected
Partner with Revenue Cycle to reduce coding related billing errors
Act as a daily resource to the Access and Clinical teams to ensure codes are reflective of the care being provided
Perform technical review of admissions and recertifications
Required qualifications for this position includes:
High School Diploma -OR- GED
Active Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential. In lieu of RHIT credential, must meet one of the following criteria:
Current Board of Medical Specialty Coding (BMSC) credential, -OR-
Current AHIMA coding credential (i.e. CCA, CCS, CCS-P), -OR-
Graduate of an AHIMA-accredited Health Information Technology program and must receive a passing score on the RHIT national exam within 90 days of hire.
Experience using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) application
Experience working in a health information management department or related health care setting
In compliance with the Providence Health & Services-OR Human Resources policy #302 Background Checks, a criminal background check for this position, based on assigned duties
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Health care related field
