Providence Health & Services Certified Nursing Assistant 2- Surgical Unit in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Certified Nursing Assistant 2 - Surgical Unit (0.9 FTE, Days) to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.
We're looking for an experienced CNA2 to work 3, 12 hour day shifts from 7:00am to 7:30pm & rotating weekends. Schedules are communicated 6 weeks in advance and all caregivers will be required to work every other weekend.
This unit typically serves post-surgical (Urology, OBGYN, general abdominal surgeries, etc.) and medical patients with plenty of exposure to various drains, tubes and wound vacs. We have a diverse patient population which means that there’s something new that comes through every day and creates a fantastic atmosphere for any nurse to learn and hone their practice and operate at the top of their license!
This is a 46-bed unit with 16 beds dedicated to telemetry. This unit has quick patient turnover with the average length of stay sitting at approximately 2 – 3 days. Working on this large unit means that the medical surgical component dictates a varied scope of learning from the different types of patients you see.
The teamwork on this unit is AMAZING with 12 RNs on the day shift plus 2 CNAs and a Charge RN. This team uses one another, working together, to provide quality care to our patients. The culture on this unit is also one of high collaboration and a shared decision making structure. With opportunities to take part in the unit-based council as well as house-wide committees to be involved at a larger scope.
This unit has an amazing Nurse Manager, Nicole Bailey, who’s been with the organization since 1998; growing from a CNA to her present role. Nicole says she has “always been drawn to the core values and the mission statement. [She] really likes the people and family feel. Everyone takes care of each other.”
