Providence is calling a Cardiac Clinic Technician - Heart Clinic (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR
We are seeking for Cardiac Clinic Technician - Heart Clinic St. V who will work closely with the team to manage and coordinate cardiac care for patients. This role is primarily responsible for administering electrocardiography exams that provide data to support the diagnosis of cardiac problems, performing new patient intake, rooming patients, providing phone support, completing medication authorizations, providing patient care and patient/family education as directed by providers. The Cardiac tech processes patient data with clinical judgment using a variety of information systems. They also provide clear patient education regarding the patient's cardiac care, medications, disease process/prevention, risk factors, cardiac procedure, cardiac diagnostics and diet.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Complete advance preparation for patients scheduled for appointments at the Heart Clinic including completing the New Patient Intake Interview; documenting current medications, allergies, surgical history, medical history and other relevant medical information for their upcoming appointment
Review patient chart to ensure that all previous medical records, diagnostics test results and images (CT, MRI, US, etc.) are accessible to the provider for the appointment
Independently perform non-invasive testing procedures including EKG's, and other tests that provide valuable recorded data utilized in cardiac medical evaluation and diagnosis of heart problems
Perform additional patient care activities including observation, reporting, taking vital signs, obtaining patient height and weight, conducting oxygen saturation testing, performing EKGs and reporting findings to Provider
Manage incoming and outgoing patient clinical telephone calls; documenting, prioritizing, using independent judgment to determine when to escalate calls within the care team, and ensuring that the patient's questions and needs are addressed and resolved
Proactively respond to emergent/crisis situations utilizing all available equipment to assist in stabilization of patient. Performs ACLS and application of ACLS algorithms when under the direction of a Provider
Application of BLS measures in emergency situations when no providers are present
Work effectively and collaboratively with care team utilizing good interpersonal skills
Assure smooth patient hand-offs between care teams when appropriate
Work closely to coordinate patient centered care across cardiac multidisciplinary service lines
Ensure proper function and maintenance of equipment before beginning procedures
Maintain cardiology equipment and supplies by cleaning and adjusting equipment; troubleshooting problems; performing preventive maintenance; reporting equipment malfunctions; arranging for repairs
Perform regular inspection of all equipment, in accordance with departmental and hospital policies for operation and safety
Complete prescription refills, medication prior authorizations, medication patient assistance forms, disability paperwork, and coordination of patient durable medical equipment needs, and assistance with transition of care
Position patients in a manner which is safe, utilizing the appropriate safe patient handling equipment and technique, allowing patients to be comfortable both physically and emotionally
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Bachelor's Degree in Exercise science or a related field
Basic Life Support certification
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
Certification in Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) -or- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Three (3) years experience in outpatient cardiac services
Advanced EKG Interpretation skills
