Providence Health & Services Billing Specialist - Home Services in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Home Services Billing Specialist to Providence Office Park in Portland, OR.
We are seeking a Home Services Billing Specialist PSJH to provide timely and accurate collection of payment from insurance carriers, patients, agencies, and others for equipment, medication, and services. Home Services provides durable medical equipment and supplies, nursing services, and pharmacy services to patients who do not require hospitalization but need these services to optimize their safety, comfort, and quality of life while at home.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Takes complete ownership of assigned Accounts Receivables.
Responsible for billing and collections, payor relationships, correspondence, patient and payor phone communication, resolution of claim issues to maximize reimbursement and minimize processing time.
Communicates with patients, payors and ancillary departments to independently resolve billing issues.
Establishe expertise in the assigned line of business (Home Health, Hospice, Home Infusion/SPP) and with the payors (government, commercial, managed care). Types include: episodic, per diem, fee for service.
Identifies account receivable process breakdowns and remedies them or escalates to leadership.
Maintains up-to-date reference manuals to ensure billings meet regulatory requirements.
Conducts follow-up on denied or partially paid claims to ensure that reprocessing occurs within timely billing limits.
Seek out relevant training for position.
Seek out guidance when uncertain of a a procedure policy, or standard operating practice.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required qualifications for this position include:
1 years’ experience in Health Care billing, collections, or claims processing
Excellent interpersonal communication and public relation skills
Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/10 coding, CMS 1500 or UB04
Independent thinking and decision-making skills
In depth knowledge of Managed Care, Medicare, Medicaid and other regulatory programs
Organization and time management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment
Ability to maintain flexibility in meeting department and individual workload demands
Utilize solid judgment and adhere to all policies ensuring the protection of confidential information related to patient demographics, medical information, diagnosis codes, (PHI) according to both internal and Federal HIPPA regulations and guidelines
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
High school graduate or GED equivalent
College level courses in medical front office/medical billing
Experience in EMC billing
