Providence Health & Services Account Resolution Specialist 1 in Portland, Oregon
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling an Accounts Resolution Specialist 1 - Outbound to our location in Portland, WA.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Make outbound calls to customers to negotiate payment arrangements and set up payment plans.
Review key financial data to determine the patient’s general financial situation and ability to pay for balances due.
Extract, review, and interpret billing statements, charge information, private or government insurance benefits, and other related information from multiple billing and documentation servers (for multiple hospitals, clinics and insurance companies) while resolving account balances.
Utilize solid judgment and adhere to all policies ensuring the protection of confidential information related to patient demographics, medical information, diagnosis codes, etc. according to both internal and Federal HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
Analyze the various activities and interactions the Collections Department has had with a patient to determine the most appropriate action or service needed.
Maintain knowledge of various resources to offer a customer/patient in resolving an account balance (ie federal programs, pharmacy program, etc.) Maintain current knowledge and basis understand of state or federal assistance programs.
Interview patients/guarantor to obtain necessary financial information in determining whether they would quality for financial assistance.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
2 years experience in customer service
Ability to deescalate tense or heated customer interactions with little or no prior understanding of the situation.
Basic data entry skills, ten-key and PC.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
College coursework completed.
2 years experience in customer service call center environment (health care preferred)
2 years experience in full-time collections (health care preferred)
2 years experience in automated, computerized account follow-up system.
2 years experience in customer service (health care preferred).
